Lossless no, but 95% yes.
It was a deliberate move on my part. That way you do get decent compression with a massive reduction in filesize, but virtually no loss in quality and no jpeg artefacts (those little rectangular colour errors).
I used GIMP for my conversion, essentially a free open source version of Photoshop, and much more customizable (last I checked).

and then when altering the canvas size you took the opportunity to save it again with the quality slider in gimp at 95 to reduce the size for upload? since you got 130KB
well, thats the thing, for purposes of appreciating the photo, our eyes cant see a difference, perpahs even if we zoomed 400% and compared to the original camera raw picture
BUT re-saving DID in fact reduze the quality,
if some mongrel were to take you upload and increase the canvas to include some footer like in my pic, but doing it without using some lossless technique, the picture would be degraded some more (even if they selected 100% quality), some else saves it from sex dot com, removes the footer AGAIN by re-saving without a plugin for jpeg lossless edit for gimp/xnview or whatever.. you get the pattern
pretty soon we have blury shit floating around, im sure youve seen some funny pictures from mids 90s being shared today around the web with tons of compression artifacts and text almost unreadable, with funyjunk 9gag ebaumswrld whatever watermaks added/removed/covered.
(funny how i went to the site and this very picture of Rachel Cook was among the top of the homepage, did she just rise to general public fame a very recently?)
(and i can only hope that sex dot com uses lossless to add their footer, someone more technicaly knowlegdeable about jpeg and fluent in english should probably make a public blogpost about this and email the same content to some photo sharing sites)

please avoid resavign jpegs to share on the internet, it leads to our distruted pron collection getting more and more crappy copies of the same photo, practically drowning in obscurity the high quality ones from source, and reverse image search cant diferentiate quality (and filesize is not an indicative).

unfortunatelly it seem the jpegtran / jpegcrop / infarview and others dont have a lossless increase of canvas, aka adding margins
but you can rotate and crop
someone on xnview forum states that its not possible due to jpeg format, but a paid program "BetterJPG" allegedly can add margins in lossless mode
damn, i bet smutty and sexdotcom as in example pic just use some shitty php class that re-saves the image, specially to reduze site bandwidth.
we're better just not uploading to those sites guys, and not save from there.
