Your painting is by William-Adolphe Bouguereau. Look him up, a lot of his stuff is photo-realistic and nude, with touches of myth like gods and goddesses.

Exactly. Paintings can be more, say, brutally real.

Whats the story on this? Looks like it's meant to be some depiction of pedophilia. The bottle of pills on the bed, the bear, the hourglass representing time...the strange old man in the mirror painting the scene.
>>2534303
>>2534142
It's a term to describe paintings that emulate the ability of a camera; the viewer might go "My word, I thought this was a picture not a painting," you artistic autists. I can practically hear the sound of cheap French wine sloshing around your fat cheeks, you disgusting faux-class scum. Take your 'well actually, friend....' tone and shove it up your flappy, well-fucked asses.
>>2543407
Well, actually, my friend, that would be ‘photo-realism’, a genre of painting pioneered in the late 60’s that was all about copying photographs. This thread has little or none of it.
Love those Terry Rodgers paintings. Thanks for showing me. Tried to find some more in good res. Only found two within photos. I straightened them out and cropped them.
Here they are.
Any chance to get some more in good resolution? :)

Interesting story behind this one:
The model here was one Marie-Louise Morfi (or O'Murphy), the youngest child of a family of Irish Jacobite expatriates residing in France. She was probably 14 when she posed for this circa-1752 painting by Francois Boucher, supposedly commissioned by the famed Giacomo Casanova (who had discovered her through her older sister).
One version (there were at least two) was purchased by the brother of Madame de Pompadour, principal mistress of Louis XV. Upon seeing the work, the king was so enthralled that he sent for the model (by this point aged 15) that he might take her as another mistress. Though only a lesser mistress, she was provided with a house, and she bore Louis an illegitimate daughter the following year.
The month after her 18th birthday, she was dismissed and a marriage was arranged for her, with a sizable dowry provided by the king. She may have had subsequent royal liaisons, however, as there is strong circumstantial evidence that another of her daughters was Louis' illegitimate child.

Interesting question.
Not in any sane country, I shouldn't think. The model was certainly well under 18, but since it's art, not porn, it should be OK. You never know today, though, what some self-appointed crusader might think. Still, I can't imagine any court in the free world considering this obscene.

good thought, anon. Although I would have said it's about the perils of trying to grow up too quickly - she's a girl (the bear), posing as a grown-up (the makeup and leather), but that leads to danger (the knife and pills), as time passes quickly (the falling hourglass), and then you die (the skull).
