The Lord of The Rings/The Hobbit
Can be anything
How about less movie movie, more book-y book-y?
>>2508443
Also, Silmarillion welcome too?
>>2507640
I never realized what a tiny landmass Middle Earth is. Just judging from the distances between Hobbiton/Bree, Minas Tirith/Minas Morgul and Dol Guldur/Lonely Mountain, I'd estimate Middle Earth to be about the size of Austria, and that's correcting for the "miles" indicator on the map that is clearly very wrong.
>>2508450
Middle-earth is Europe according to tolkien
>>2508450
What makes it worse is LotR, Hobbit and Silmarillion take place on a disastrously small portion of the world. Tolkein hinted at so much that existed that he never explicitly depicted.
>>2508750
You don't think he explicitly depicted precisely what he meant to?
>>2514270
>>2514256
>>2514237
Either of these exist in any higher resolution form?

Sauron was a big dude. Sauron wore the ring *outside* his armored finger. Yet the ring fit snugly on Bilbo and Frodo, yet their hands don't appear freakishly large. How dat?
>>2515956
The One Ring could change size. Magic and all that
>>2515956
Jesus Christ, really?
Read the books, m8, seriously.
Its a magic ring that changes size, warms up on will and only shows its carvings when heated up in a fire. It sort of has a mind of its own.
>>2515956
When Isildur chops sauron's hand off in the movie, you will watch the ring size itself down to fit Isildur's finger.
>>2515956
It was said that the ring was treacherous, and would slip off of a wearer's finger to their doom, as it did to Isildur. When he was ambushed by orcs, he put the Ring on to hide, but it slipped right off his finger and revealed him at the most inopportune moment.
In the same way, it slipped it's way ON to Frodo's finger in the Inn at Bree, because it wanted to be spotted by Bill Ferny and some of the other strange characters who were spies for The Enemy.

You can take your orcish manners and go, dude. Or you can settle down and keep a civil tongue in your head and maybe we'll let you stay. But this is a Tolkien thread and you'll conduct yourself as if the old master was here himself. As he surely is in spirit, and in the hearts of all those who love Middle Earth.
Whoa started this quite awhile ago didnt think itd still be up. Good shit
"Do you not know death when you see it, old man? This is MY hour!"
One of the coolest lines out of the trilogy imo
