Theophrastus for /cgl/

Nietzsche was a mentally disturbed man with ideals of grandeur. Would he count?

I feel that s4s is better represented by the Discordians. So Greg Hill. If you would object to this on the basis that discordianism is not a philosophy, then I would remind you that s4s is hardly considered a "proper board". So the sensibility of my comparison becomes clear, at this point. Also both can occasionally come up with coherent sentences occasionally, which is part of the larger ruse in both cases.

As the default furry board, /trash/ is best served by whichever transhumanist is most pertinent.

Sade is /d/.

/lit/ could be any of Nietzsche, Marx, or Foucault. /lit/ is probably 4chan's most culturally left-wing board to begin with, and they actively and enthusiastically discuss continental philosophy (in spite of shitposting on same topics). A regular interest in nihilism also crops up, and a large part of why they read the continentals is because they're Americans trying to be "cool", or in other words gain power in whatever social circle, which is where the Foucault suggestion comes from.

Camille Paglia is /lgbt/. Both write on gender and sexuality, and interact with leftists themselves, but they do so in a contrarian way, and often with annoyance at the mainstream left, not wanting to be lumped in with them en masse. They both perform contrarian individuality.

/his/ has established a userbase interest in military, classical and Christian topics (classical, un-pozzed western history in general), and is the focus of the anti-protestant culture on 4chan esp. since its beginning, so Thomas Aquinas is a good choice. Maybe Marcus Aurelius.

/diy/ is maybe Wittgenstein, who built himself a house. porn boards are decadents/hedonists, whoever they are.
>>
/biz/ is Adam Smith. the board's culture is both capitalistic and right-wing, and Smith is a meme among conservatives.

/x/ is Crowley perhaps, just by dint of meme status.

Since /int/ is concerned with power of countries, some military/statecraft philosopher. Hobbes, Sun Tsu, Locke, etc.

/tv/ should be Marshall Mcluhan. Debord as a backup option.

I like Enoch Powell or Nick Land for /pol/. Hitler is the lazy choice.
>>
>>993381
/fa/ is Camus nigga. He's without any doubt the most fashionable one and smokes like a champ. Also extremely popular with insecure teenagers which are the primary demographic of /fa/

/fit/ is Plato obv

>>993396
I keep forgetting /cgl/ exists.
...Are there any good female philosophers? I think that's the most female-dominated board.
>>
For whichever board wants it, a simpler, George W. Bush tier answer can be given:

"Our philosopher of choice is Jesus Christ."
>>
>>993649
There's Bueavoir. I don't know anything about /cgl/ culture though so maybe that doesn't fit.
>>
>>993621
You know the school nurse in south park? Enoch Powell with Hitler as the dead fetus attached to the face. I mean you can't miss it and it's disgusting to look at, but it's not the main body

As a /biz/antine, I can assure you that /biz/ is not right-wing, though it may be capitalistic. There seems to be an especially large faction of people on the board that love to fight the "minimum wage kills jobs!" meme.

/his/ is Hegel because historicism or something.
>>
>>993941
TBF that sounds closer to what Adam Smith was actually like. Everyone forgets he also wrote "Theory of Moral Sentiment" and that he was mostly talking about Merchantalism.
>>
>>993941
How could anyone even fight that?
It does kill jobs (and raises inflation). The question is at what proportion. If it didn't, we could just raise the minimum wage to 200,000 dollars.

I'm not even going to debate this

Aquinas is posted here literally every other day. I have a personal dislike of the anti-protestantism around 4chan generally, but if a board has a blatantly obvious hard-on for some given theologian, even if you yourself don't like him, then it naturally occurs at some point, that that theologian might as well be the philosopher-tan of the board. If you don't like that, change the culture of the board or go elsewhere.

As a matter of fact, I neglected to mention Stirner in connection with /lit/. /lit/ is responsible for nurturing that particular meme, and he's a continental and plays into angles of everything I mentoned about /lit/ earlier, so Stirner is the most straightforward and accurate choice for /lit/ culture generally.
>>
Schopenhauer indeed.
no gf, nihilist/pessimist
>>
>>994693
Aquinas is hardly brought up that often. Some catholic shithead will make a stupid thread claiming he's the greatest philosopher to ever live and 200 posts of shitflinging will occur afterwards. He's not nearly as praised or influential as Stirner is on /lit/. We don't even have epic Aquinas memes.

And the anti-protestant thing seems to be mostly isolated to the Catholics. If anything Luther is more often discussed than anything related to Catholicism and not always in a negative light.

It always kinda surprised me a board as pretentious and up its own ass such as /lit/ could produce a meme as dank as Stirnerposting
