Are the masses really being controlled by things such as movies, television, music,ect, or is this idea over exaggerated by people who project their self superiority on others as stupid sheep who cannot think for themselves. Is there really a hidden agenda being fed to the masses through, or is it just a expression of the times they where made in? Of course there can be both but it seems to me that it is blown out of proportion. Is there any evidence behind these theories?

Everyone is being manipulated all the time.
If you see a commercial for Micky D's and start craving a burger, you've just been manipulated by media. The entire purpose of commercials is to manipulate the viewer to achieve a desire effect. Buy a product. Vote for Johnson. Why you should prefer brand X over brand Y. This isn't done as part of a vast conspiratorial operation but as a natural byproduct of a consumer economy & a passive media craving population.
