Is he any good, /his/? What are his main ideas?

Ideology
>I'll just cite more reactionary and conservative thinkers and call myself a marxist
He's not that difficult to grasp. Why do you even ask for his ideas? You don't really have to get a background in Hegel and Lacan and Marx to understand his 'you're constantly being interpellated by ideology' schtick.

>Is he any good, /his/?
I actually like him. He's great at analysing and he doesn't shy away from any topics. I would never let him near any seat of authority though.
>What are his main ideas?
dude ideology lmao
All memes aside he's actually pretty good.
His books are a little tough to get through but his interviews provide context to them and reading them after listening to zizek is very enjoyable.

I really don't care about Lacan after reading Deleuze.
But his analysis of Marx and Freud are top notch. His approach towards dialectical materialism is also pretty novel. However I'm pretty sure he owes a heavy debt to Althusser for all of that ideology theory he has, even though Althusser was influenced by Lacan on that aspect.

>Zizek calls out Chomsky for defending the Khmer Rouge
>Zizek calls out Stalin apologists
>Zizek calls out the powerful leftists in academia

>>974923
Žižek is a contrarian,he does this shit only so he could finance his coke addiction. Also, his film theory is actually pretty based (read his reviews),but he is wrong on pretty much everything else.
>psychoanalysis

He is the true heir of Lacan
Been reading a lot of him
Ideology, Marxian mostly
Pop culture used as a metaphor for ideology
And so on....
Sniff
Trashcans
No lie, I would pay money to see him do a commentary on a porno.
>>974923
He's a product of Yugoslavia.
He made a good point on the flaws of the bolsheviks and the fact that the only thing that separated Trotsky from Stalin was the fact that Stalin was the one who took power.
Basically if Trotsky takes power and Stalin is exiled we'd have 10000 Stalinist groups talking about how Trotsky perverted Lenin's ideas and Stalin was the more intellectual one.
>>974923
He still a marxist.
>>972842
>Is he any good, /his/?
quite the opposite, actually

>Valuing what Lenin has to say.
>laughingcouncilcommunists.jpg
>>975235
No, I'm saying they weren't fascists. Whether the Khmer Rouge were Marxists in the traditional sense is debatable and I am by no means an expert in it. And, of course, calling Stalin anything other than a Marxist is outright delusion. And I am not saying this as necessarily an opponent of Marxism, but simply as a matter of fact. A great deal of Stalin's decisions on policy were clearly motivated by his ideology, and his private writings and private accounts of him (which were only published and released long-after the Soviet state had disowned him) have always remained firm in their showing that Stalin was a man of deep ideological conviction who truly felt that what he was doing was the most realistic path to socialism.
>>975298
Actually, that would make them less Marxist than the USSR. Marxism would say that there must be a transition from capitalism to communism in socialism, which would have characteristics of both (this is why the Soviet Union never called itself a communist society, but a socialist society); the Khmer Rouge tried to more or less erase the historical circumstances of its existence instead of developing along them.
>>975298
>literally abolished property and money
For everybody who wasn't a member of Pol Pot's cabal. He made Cambodia into his serfs.
>>975204
>But seriously why do you think you have to be a fascist to be "Redpilled"
but seriously, are you really this upset because I wouldnt give you cool cred status on behalf of /pol/?
lol fucking pathetic m8. The baby tier "YOURE A FASCIST!" doesnt help either
>>975337
Dictatorship of the Proletariat is an aspect of socialism, yes, but the Khmer Rouge tried to force this transition extremely rapidly in a way which was horribly mangled; in that manner, it is actually quite similar to something like Anarchist Catalonia.
>/pol/ thinks they invented a huge deep concept such as "redpill" and assume only a certain kind of people can appropriate it
>implying it's not just telling it "how it is" regarding some underlying social "truth" that is hidden
This literally can be applied to anything.
>>972842
Basically this

George Orwell made that precise argument sixty years earlier.
