Opinions on objectivism?

Conservatism for 14-year old edgelords

Why? Should productivity not be a virtue?
I've never understood the difference between it and libertarianism. Is it just that it's edgier?
>>971913
>Is it just that it's edgier?
It's more "fuck everyone else" than libertarianism. Libertarians includes some ideas about the common welfare improving reached through their method.
>>971913
It's a political and moral philosophy built upon a shitty metaphysical basis. It's made by someone with no education in philosophy and it shows.
>>971938
Please be more specific. What, in particular, are you referring to when you say that objectivism was built upon a "shitty metaphysical basis"?

Dunno about him, but the basis of her epistemology is that there are no real problems in epistemology.

Ayn Rand's views are literal autism
>>971906
No, the concept of objectivity is flawed
>>971871
It spawned two good games and one awful pun.
It is a terrible ideology to live under, though.
It's to the libertarian cause what DOOS FAULT /pol/ is to Catholicism, a hilariously short sighted way to look at the world, justified by an absolute minimum of philosophy
>>971996
I'm not an objectivist, but how is the concept of objectivity flawed? Can nothing be factual outside the mind?
>>971871
>Opinions on objectivism?
I like it’s application for individuals but it doesn’t work with corporations.
>>971871
It isn't coherent.
>>972147
Not him but it's a theory that has no evidence in favour of it and is impossible to prove. The definition of flawed.
>>971871
Objectivism could only work if everyone had autism.
>>971871
>Opinions on objectivism?
I thumbed through her "Romantic Manifesto" once or twice, and found it insipid and ridiculous. It was little more than bare assertions without backing of reason or intuition.
Maybe it was her worst work, I dunno. But it sure as fuck didn't make me want to slog through "The Fountainhead" or "Atlas Shrugged".
Atlas Shrugged is a pretty good book if you like trains
>>972147
There is no justifiable reason to assume the world we perceive is objectively real
>>972333
But there is justifiable reason to assume there is an objective world which provides our perceptions of the world.
Whether or not we can access the objective state of the world is a different question, but it's safe to say that solipsism is pretty goddamned silly.

hard to say, he said "good" so he can't mean Bioshock
>>972408
Oh yeah, I forgot about Bioshock. It and the sequel are probably what he was talking about; it's alright.
Was literally a cult while Ayn was alive and maintains some trappings of that. People become disciples and then start all talking the same and getting weirdly defensive that it might not be The Truth.
Stalinism for libertarians.

Read Kant. Kant tries to save objectivity from Hume, and Rand accuses him of being the "ultimate subjectivist"
AKA read philosophy.
Ayn Rand is high school fan fiction tier. She's an author who wrote fan wank nonsense that holds no intellectual bearing whatsoever.
Anybody who seriously reads her works and has some sort of transformative revelation needs to have their lives reevaluated.
Her shit works in her mind and in her books because it's fiction.
