living a primitive lifestyle is really hard, so you have to be really determined to go through with it for more than a month or two. Citylife is easy, but it surrounds you with a culture of consumerism that puts you in the mindset of more is better, and buying things will make you happy, when really getting more stuff just makes you want more stuff. Also, most of the stories you hear about people who have given up modern comforts for a simpler way of life are through the media, and it would make a bad story/show if the person was always starving and cold and struggling to survive

Compared to city life or even just a first world rural area it's way more harder to thrive in such societies but the bonds it forges for each individual does a tremendous amount of good on ones psyche, unless something horrid happens like famine, predators or rival tribes attack; if so expect the usual mental scarring and physical traumas to occur with such scenarios.

Often times "controlling nature" boils down to forcing nature to give us a shitty hand because we either don't care or don't know what the fuck we're doing. Someone needs to remind people that some actions can lead to a severe shortage of drinkable water in 20 years.
