Why is WW2 so fucking interesting?
It has it all
>political backstabbery

>genocide
>generals with their own faults and personalities
>desperate fight for survival from various sides
>iconic weapons
>changed the course of history and modern world

Maybe because its the largest war ever fought you fucking moron
>>
>>958617
It's important to you because a: your country was in it, and it was likely the last time your country was in a real big war
B:you are told it's important because the U.S. Has been milking WW2 political capital since it got in. It was also a result of this was specifically that the U.S. Became the most powerful nation on earth and so it is historically important but emotionally important because so long as the memory of surging ahead of the rest of the world is kept fresh in their minds, the ruling class/the inherently selfish democratic majority aren't faced with making any real leaps forward. The Cold War did its thing, but that's it, cold. All anxiety and none of the remembering of humanity that comes from war. But you notice how the great leaps of humanity always come out of conflict? It's not like we aren't capable of amicable cooperation, and yet that's not what we, as capitalist individualists, seem to do on large scales. I don't think that particular problem is as much about our nature as our culture.
>>

Personally I find anything in the 20th century boring.

Not to mention in addition to roots of modern day butthurts.
>>
>>958617
Why was WWI so fucking interesting it has it all:

>Political backstabbing
>Large open battles in all terrains that shifted
>Genocide
>Generals with their own faults and personalities
>Desperate fiht for survival from variou sides
>Iconic weapons
>Change the course of history, modern world, created WWII, and the world forever.
>Nobody gives a shit about it because MUH WWII faggotry.
>>
desu I find WWII boring, maybe it's the fact that when I was younger I watched a lot of the History Channel when it was WWII and not just Pawn Shops and Motor Cycles and Motor Cycles at Pawn Shops or maybe it's the fact that the Middle East and Latin America weren't involved or maybe it's the fact that I like the smaller more political parts of history and the lead up is more interesting as it's more about ideology which is more interesting to me.

Overall when I think of WWII I think of drooling virgins and 50 somethings.

There's a huge ideological side to it that isn't seen anywhere else, Western Allies, Eastern Allies, the Axis, all of them had incredibly unique aesthetics, mentalities, political aims and approaches to warfare.

I find ww1 depressing.

Ww2 had a reason to exist and good causes to fight for. Ww1 happened for absolutely no good reason.

Like what? Maintaining private banks.

Allies - Liberating Europe from Nazi terror
Soviets - Stop the Nazis from invading their motherland
Germans - Stop the bolshevism and fight for their countries survival against Western imperialism
Japan - Fight for their Empire's survival in Asia
Seem like pretty good causes, imo.

He's right, faggot
The US media kept shoving WW2 related stuff in our throats ever since they became the cultural hegemon
>>
Warfare was mainly about stabbing the other guy with a pointy stick, from 2,000,000 BC, all the way up until around the late 1800s. WW2 was the first war to ever be fought where grunts were actually equipped with magazinefed automatic firearms. It represents a titanic techonological revolution with massive implications for the human race, for the rest of its history. If that doesn't fascinate you then get out of my face

The world would turn out the same way if WW2 never happened, with Atlantic powers and the USSR carving up Europe. Now WW1 was the real game changer, WW2 was just the Germans trying to throw a wedge into the most probable outcome and failing.
>>
>>959949

Decolonization likely would not have happened at all, or happened extremely differently without WW2. China's development would also be extremely affected.
>>
>>959968
>Decolonization

India would still become independent either way, in fact WW2 might have only delayed it for a while. Israel was also in the works because of Balfour and all the agreements from the 1920s.
>>
>>959991

Because India and Israel were the only decolonized states? Would the Dutch have let go of Indonesia without the Japanese running amok and smashing all their presence there? Would the Brits have let go of Myanmar, Malaya, their Guyana colonies, all very profitable? Would the French have let go of Dakar, and the Belgians of the Congo? Not to mention that the British were dragging their feet on both independence movements, and you can't deny that they got a huge kickstart when local militias basically took over a lot of security duties to free up manpower for the frontlines.

Because it was WW2 that did two major, major things, it brought American and Soviet interests away from their own countries, meaning that both of their decolonization postures started growing teeth, and it really racked all of the biggest colonial states, especially Britain and France.

A world without WW2 gives the colonizing countries far more resources to deal with problems, and a completely different political landscape, one in which perpetual occupation is more palatable.

WW2 has been discussed to death. It is by far the most documented event in human history.
It also depends where you live. Clappers are more inclined to find it uninteresting, because the population of the US was largely unaffected by the war and the best piece of history an American will have is probably their grandfather telling about the battle of Guam. Europeans, especially Germans, French, Britons, Russians, Ukrainians, Belorussians, and Polish still have deep wounds from the conflict 70 years ago as they can still see the destroyed buildings and mass graves and almost everyone in their familiy was affected by it.

At the cost of sounding cynical, it's because of how much information is available on it.
The Cold War is definitely the more interesting one, but we're still in the process of declassifying all the documents (leaving out the obvious fact that a good portion can be assumed to be destroyed) it means that we're still in the process of putting it into a coherent list.
>>

Not him but them wanting clay and oil created the empire that they defended.
Admittedly the better reason if for "expansion of their empire".
