The closest you're gonna get to emperor as we understand it is αυτοkράτορας (autocrat, for you plebs who can't read Greek).
Also, this is the page for the Shahanshah/King of Kings, who most definitely was seen as an emperor, and, again, basileus is used.

Why is there no movie about this guys? Certainly one of the more entertaining and dramatic stories around. The rightful king returns to take his throne after being overthrown and mutilated except in this case he's the bad guy.
