Well, weren't most of them shit scarred of being condemned as a war criminal if they were in any way related to the German state? I suppose Mannerheim was thinking more about his reputation, if he admitted he knew as much as he probably did, people would have accused him of supporting it because he did nothing to stop it (even if he realistically, could do nothing).
Also when it comes to people like Göring, their plan was to try and make the German cause seem just, because they hoped that would rally the German populace to rebel, and the whole ethnic cleansing was hard to justify to anyone who was not a Nazi, so most of them started pretending it had not happen.

I'm confused, why would Mannerheim know anything about what the Nazis did in their free time? Guy wasnt political at all to the point that it could be considered a flaw.
