Did World War 1 cause the death of the American dream?
>>
The American Dream is relative. It will always exist.
>>
....................?
why ww1 of all things? did you just read the great gatsby or something?

The American dream has always been a meme.

Nice picture of coal miners. What part of Kentucky is that from?
>>
>>921807
No. Desegregation and feminism ruined the American Dream.

The entire concept that someone can start out in a minimum wage job and work their way up to being a wealthy executive is reliant on an artificially suppressed labor market.
>>
The American dream was always a Bourgeois lie.

Nope. It did however lobotomize and then kill the European dream. Europe has never really been the same since WWI.

Vietnam and stagflation did. And then 9/11 tossed the corpse in the blender.

Did the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians during World War 1 cause the death of the Armenian dream?
>>

The Rise of Globalism and the Reagan Revolution killed it

>>
>>921807
Yes, WW1 was the direct cause of poor people in America.
>>
>>921985
Mostly this, but it did exist to a small extent if you were white and male prior to around the 1870s.
>>

ww1 is the suicide of Europe and the beginning of the us superiority. Remember you just fought one year (shitty ally as always).

American Dream died, when America became fully settled and developed and power structures formed.
All the slices of the pie were taken long ago and it's surprising it took people this fucking long to realize it.
If you want a specific time frame, boomer era could be probably called the death throes of american dream. A period of maniacal unsustainable growth, which is now slowly coming back with revenge, as greed took means of production overseas, while high living standards forced the nation to absorb an endless stream of latinos. Now an army of retirees is going kick the living fuck out of the economy.
US is now just another developed nation with a financial time bomb in its pocket.
You have more of a shot at "american dream" in one of the emerging economies around the world today.

We overturned a century of strong isolationalist tradition just to help YOU out in your shitty war, and we barely had a good reason to do it. You should be thanking us.

If anything, it exacerbated it for a time. The GI Bill was put into place, the 20's immediately followed, and it set the stage for WWII, which caused the ultimate realization of the Dream with the rise of suburbs, nuclear families, US economic dominance, etc etc.

This was all great for the average (white) man.

you take advantage of the situation, you never did something to help, you came just at the end after the battle
