Why do people equate capitalism to buying & selling goods, most other systems do that too.
Capitalism is specifically about the government's role in maximizing the benefits of commerce.
Why do people equate capitalism to private capitalism?
It's not like the state can't manage capitalism.
>>900187
Because capitalism has been conflated with consumerism for better or worse.
>>900197
Yeah that's the contemporary split between left- and right-wing politics senpai
>>900202
guess this is a much better way to phrase it
Markets have obviously been around for a while but it's only become the way everyone has to make their living for the past century and a half or so under modern industrial capitalism.
>>900204
Isn't that whenever private ownership should be owned or not?
There's both leftwingers and rightwingers that want to abolish the state.
>>900197
A capitalist is, by definition, not a manager hired by a state.
>>900219
link that definition
>>900197
Yeah, but then you enter into mercantilist territory.
>>900223
Why not look it up it yourself? Searching 'capitalism' will give you plenty of results that explicitly state the fact that capitalism requires the private ownership of production. If that's not enough for you go back to the 1860's and research the origins of the word.
>>900246
Your definition goes against most, if you aren't going to back it up with anything, then you just pulled it out your ass.

le invisable hand
Even modern reformed capitalism where the invisable hand doesn't exist, you can't be too authoritarian. A capitalist society is suppsed to keep an economy as healthy as possible as opposed to a communist one which believes short term suffering until utopia is achieved.
People equate free markets with capitalism. You can have a system in which people freely buy and sell without capitalism.
>>900187
Commodity fetishism. Time to read young marx.
>>900305
>which believes short term suffering until utopia is achieved.
That's not communism. And here's your stupid (You)
>>900187
Austrians and chicagocucks are not people.
>le capitalism is only voluntary trades XD
its because most people aren't well-versed on economy history. they just assume the economy has been operating in a similar fashion for a vast majority of human existence.
Is it time to bring mutualism to the mainstream?
>>902043
This shit has been BTFO for well over a century and a half now. Just let it die.
>>900190
what
>>900187
Capitalism incentivizes sovereignty in a particular industry. It doesn't promote the delivery of a superior service, just the domination of a market. It doesn't specify the means to achieve that dominance.
That is one of the key defining factors of a capitalist society and that is also one of it's primary cruxes.
>>900187
No, capitalism is the exploitation of workers.
>>903127
So Einstein was wrong about something after all.
