I know that Lord Byron was involved in supporting it and that the Greeks loved him for it, which warms my heart

>Alfred Tennyson would later recall the shocked reaction in Britain when word was received of Byron's death.[27] The Greeks mourned Lord Byron deeply, and he became a hero.[54][55] The national poet of Greece, Dionysios Solomos, wrote a poem about the unexpected loss, named To the Death of Lord Byron.[56] Βύρων ("Vyron"), the Greek form of "Byron", continues in popularity as a masculine name in Greece, and a town near Athens is called Vyronas in his honour.

>Byron's body was embalmed, but the Greeks wanted some part of their hero to stay with them. According to some sources, his heart remained at Missolonghi.[57] His other remains were sent to England (accompanied by his faithful manservant, "Tita") for burial in Westminster Abbey, but the Abbey refused for reason of "questionable morality".[27][58] Huge crowds viewed his coffin as he lay in state for two days in London.[27] He is buried at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. A marble slab given by the King of Greece is laid directly above Byron's grave.

Greekfag here
Bascially we never would have succeeded if turks took the whole thing seriously, and after suffering some fairly humiliating defeats by outnumbered greeks, they got their shit together and started reseiging occupied rovultionary cities. But it was too late, philohellenic movements spread out in the US,UK and France, and since it happened during the period of romanticisme, all poets got a big bonner and wrote oh so many poems about the greeks fighting for liberty. It was by no means a wholy crusade to them, they didn't even give a shit. Also, HAHAHAHAAHA TURKFAGS BTFO

Greeks revolt start winning.
Almost immediately start backstabbing and fighting each other.
Egypt invades and pretty much quells everything.
Great Powers decide Greece should be independent and force the Ottomans to accept it despite the rebellion being over by that time.

The actually cool shit follows after WWI when Greece and Turkey return to their natural positions, at one another's throats.

Turkey is just ceasing to be the Ottoman empire, a multinational oldschool monarchy, while Greece is this underdog failson, but with good outside connections, hoping to repeat everything posted ITT with regards to the British, this time ideally with USA support, while invading the Turkish coast (ethnic greek populations). Lots of wacky asymmetrical warfare, experimental use of airplanes. Turkey at this point could still have gotten cut up into foreign occupation zones ala post-WWII Germany, so all the major powers were right there in the straits, available should they decide to start shit. (Not that they were planning on it, having just finished The Great War.)

Eventually Greece does like any other blitzkrieging country and runs out of steam, Turks get foreign support because great powers are big on balance of power, populations are exchanged, game over.

Nothing. Greece dissappears from the history texts of my country after the fall of Rome.
