The biggest military conflict the south american conflict ever witnessed, it's left from 250000 to 500000 dead.

It has ruined a country ended a monarchy and begun the unification of a nation.
It made villains and heroes and left wounds that remain open even after 150 years.
It's a conflict that doesn't have as much represantation in the media as it's deserves.

So let's talk about!

Is this thing considered a Genocide? Because it should be. Although most victims were KIA.

Was it necessary for brazilians to fucking kill every single male in that country?

The genocide was a consequence but not the intention. Dom Pedro II could not allow Solano to remain in power after all the years of conflict.

His people decided to stick with him to the end and unfortunately paid the price.

he could have avoided a lot of bloodshed by starving their posts into submission. but I guess he wanted things done as quick as possible.

WOMEN ARE THE TRUE VICTIMS OF WAR
>>

Hell at the end of the war Brazil was swimming in debt and took 10 years in order for the crown to pay it's loans for it's foreign creditors.

If the war continued any more numbers of years the monarchy could have ended even sooner.

>>In order to circumvent paraguayans positions near their capital he made his soldiers build a road in the middle of the "chaco" (swamp), and successfully ambushed the paraguayans forces.

Guy made them a 11km road in the swamp, and with the help of the navy tranported in 23000 troops, and attacked the paraguayan rear and destroyed their forces, from 7500 only 3500 would be able escape, after that battle the way to Assuncion was open and in January of 1869 the paraguyan capital fell to the allied forces.
