Why people still believing in myths about the Catholic Church? Like burning witches, inquisition was evil and torturing people...
God damn.
mfw
because there is a small group of people nurturing the hatred for these groups and others..... the people who have no soil on which they have grown up..... those who live in france and then germany, then russia, then again in germany and who feel at home everywhere.... they are the only ones who can be addressed as international elements, because the conduct their business everywhere.....

Because of faggots who call pic related "credible."
>YFW there is no historic basis for the claims presented
>YFW archeology turns up absolutley zero connections between Catholicism and Babylon
>YFW you look at the actual histories and Catholic Catechism stacked agains Protestant beliefs and "histories" you realize that your worldview is as stable as barfly on a roller skates and if Catholicism really was Babylonian paganism then so is Reformed Presbylutheranism

In 1567 AD, Philip II (King of Spain) condemned the ENTIRE POPULATION of the Netherlands to death!
This was because the Dutch had become mainly Protestants.
So the Spanish Inquisition decided it would be easier to just kill them all.
They sent the Duke of Alva to Holland with his army and he succeeded in executing (burning) approx. 18,600 people.
But the Dutch fought back and eventually won their independence.

Did a windmill named "Ik zal handhaven" fly around and shed a tear too?
Catholicism is probably the single worst thing to happen to humanity. I don't go looking for these things but every time in medevil history I find something terrible the Catholics are always there pushing it.
Not Protestant or anything but I can see why they would think they were some sort of Satanic cult.

The Greek texts were already preserved by the Byzantine's.
However when it comes to the destruction of important texts Catholics are unique in doing this. Hell even the Moors respected texts better.
I can't find anything in history that the Catholics did that other societies didn't do better. However when it comes to totally fucking shit up they are a master race. The texts of Avicenna necessary for advancements were outright banned if not destroyed.

Yeah...Aquinas was the guy largely responsible for condemning the texts that helped the Renaissance. You had a few more sensible guys like Occam that fought against it but of course the religion has to go with the absolute worst choice.

All the inventions and stuff.... You need to know Henry Kamen...
>>899123
What inventions lol?
Apart from Aquinas plagiarizing Aristotle?
>>899123
Just to give you an idea of some of the insane stuff I found by accidient
>Condemnation of 1277
Condemned the idea and the research about the eternity of matter. As in "matter cannot be created or destroyed"=heresy
>30 year war
Probably the most tragic war ever in terms of death, fought over the Papacy's desire for power
>Donation of Constantine
Phony document that gave the bishop of Rome it's political power, turned out to be a forgery. Lead to a ton of war and divided Europe
>Half the books banned by the Catholic church
Descartes and Bacon's book that are credited with practiclaly inventing modern science were hearsay. So is The Dignity of Man which is the spiritual origin of the Renaissance

to add a few other things off the top of my head
>tried to stop the creation of the first encylopedia by means of torture
I donno man. I don't go looking to dig up dirt on the Catholic church but I find it's always doing the most disgusting stuff when I see it. It's like they deliberately set out to hold humanity back. If there is a God than Napoleon and Voltaire were his chosen.

A friend once told me during the 1200s the pope removed sodomy laws, is this true or was I goofed?

Burning people alive was something the Church had a hand in, but it was usually informal, like mob lynchings. The Church actually tended to dismiss accusations of witchery and for a big part of history, believing in witches was heresy on itself. The masses, and guys like Luther, believed all sorts of crazy shit, like Changelings.
The Inquisition sort of got out of hand, at times it actually subverted Papal authority.
As for torture, it was approved of even by secular courts. People were harsh back when.
