This looks like a silver Dirham.

How much it weighs?

Are there any numbers on the other side?

Thanks for narrowing it down at least :)

Ahhh, a classic Iowanese coin, this was made by the indo-european turks in the 1200's and shipped to the Iowan people in large bulks. They were mostly used to barter with the iowans with their natural huge surplus of unborn fetuses that the turks would use in their famous cannibalistic rituals

Hmm... No numbers. It is by weight.

It can also be an Iberian Maravedi or an Ottoman Akçe.

Although I thought silver Maravedis had only been coined by Christians.

Anyway, if it was found in Iowa, probably belonged to some Spaniard.

Again, what is the weight?
>>
>>887703
Very light, around one ounce
>>

The weight is consistent with the Dirham. The quadrangular frame is similar to the Maghrebian coinage, but there were Ottoman counterparts in that style. Probably from the sixteenth century.

Thanks for the help :)
