How different would Japan be if they had converted into Catholicism after the arrival of the Portuguese?
The Catholics had the plan of converting them and helping them Crusade on the rest of Asia. They would probably become more militaristic and expansionist than they were.

No bully. Just curious of what /his/ users think.
Philippines 2.0.
like south koera?
They would have been softer. Zen buddhism allowed them the fighting spirit that they had in the wars against China.

I think they still would have been on the Axis power side due to their involvement with Rome. They would probably have had Rome send brown people into their country, like they do to ours, to ruin it. Maybe the Filipinos. .
It just wasn't meant to happen.
Japanese imperialism in Asia would have been slightly different.
Japan had a large Catholic population once, but then we nuked them.

Except being Catholic means the whole shebang: westernization/close ties with the west, your cunts being subservient to an elected old man in Italy.
That's one of the reasons why Catholicism failed in Japan.
That's also the reason why today, Vietnam and China gives Rome the middle finger and appoints their own bishops for Chinese/Vietnamese Catholics.

You seem to imply that European kingdoms had not elected their Bishops themselves.

Oh sorry, I meant Cardinal.
Yeah, that guy always needs Rome's permission to be Cardinal.

Maybe they wouldn't be making so much weird porn.

This. The Jesuits in Japan more less were an imperialist power wrapped up with religious trappings to the Japanese.
