Have white Nationalism ever had any popular support at any time in History?
As I get it all sorts of nationalism through history have been either religious or culturally based.
Not even the Nazis or the KKK was much for white nationalism in the end, having some white group that they hated either because their genes, their religion or their culture.

Nobody "ruined" it: that would suggest that it was a good concept to begin with. It's literally abstraction upon abstraction: combining the arbitration in classifying "nations" with the arbitration of racial categorization through a flawed and long since discredited 19th century understanding of genetics.
