Does Canada have a future or a past? What are it's accomplishments aside from surviving in a frozen hellhole?

Indulge me please.
>>

Meme foods like KD, poutine, and beavertails.
Turning indians into alcoholics.
Building the robo-arm for the shuttle.
>>
>>878546
kraft dinner is american though.
>>
They fought well in the wars.
>>
>>878597
Did they really though? Or is that just platitudes heaped on them because they are basically gay?
>>
>>878656
their contribution to Passchendaele was admirable

too bad that one fucking movie is atrocious
>>
>>878666
What makes them admirable though? Chimpanzee rage or what?
>>
>>878706
Canada back during the world wars was fucking hardcore.

This is helped by the fact that most volunteers were farmers who had a hell of a lot of marksmanship practice.
>>

We are the fallback for people during american elections
>>

>>878717
Fucking yankees... :(
>>

>>878743
Ugh, I hate the "I'm moving to Canada" meme.

Do you guys North-side know anyone who ACTUALLY moved to Canada because of an American presidential election? I know about 50 people who say it regularly every 4 years, but 0 people who have followed through.
>>
Canada is that kid who everyone thinks is nice, but that's because he's had to many concussions from punching him self in the face.
Like really, anyone who knows our history will tell you that we're really only a country because we had to stop killing each other; and had to go kill someone else because britian said so.
>>
>>879063
I know 2 who moved when Obama was elected...
>>
>>879063
Well duh.
We don't fucking want em. We got enough funny speaking snobbish bastards here.
At least they gave us poutine.
What do the Yanks have to offer us.
>>
>>879079
There hasn't been too many internal conflicts though.
Aside from Quebec, Louis Riel, and maybe the fenians at an extreme stretch.
We mostly just focused on being gud farmers/loggers/miners/fishers and fucking over inconvenient injuns.

Apparently we were pretty brutal during WW1, like stuffing live grenades into German POW's and pulling the pin.

You guys pronounce like, 3 words differently from us.
>>

My great grandpa served over at passchendale. Guy was extremely hesistant to let my grandpa serve in ww2. From what I heard and read in his journal... Can't blame him.
>>879126
Alot of accents across this country.
Trust me, it's hard enough understanding a Newfie when you know he's speaking some bastardized form of English.

>Apparently we were pretty brutal during WW1, like stuffing live grenades into German POW's and pulling the pin.
Eh. But they gassed us back in ypers. Those Germans and their gas eh?
>>
>>878706
In WW1 specifically,
Combination of skilled and tough troops and skilled/innovative leadership. Canadian commanders were some of the first to properly execute creeping barrages and perfect counter battery operations. The German command tracked the movements of them and the Aussies in particular because when they were together, there was likely to be a major offensive.
>>
Their future is to become a couple of american states in a grand old union
>>
>>879171
Newfie here. Nothing triggers me more than when some B.C. snob pronounces it "Newfundlund."
>>
>>879171
>gas
I've said it on this board before and I'll say it again, gas wasn't that bad.

1) It didn't manage to kill that many people after First Ypres
2) Gas (eventually) sped up the pace of German combined arms attacks, which led to fewer casualties during assaults than without gas.
3) Normal artillery killed millions more people than gas, and created millions more psychological casualties. No one said "well, they shelled us so we committed war crimes! Totally justified!"
4) The Allies would have used gas, but they couldn't figure it out.
>>
>>879290
I agree that gas wasn't that lethal, but the total non-lethal casualties from gas was like 1,100,000. Also, the Allies used gas too.
>>
Canada is composed of 1) Americans that rejected the American Revolution, preferring to remain under the British Crown, many immigrating north to "British North America" after losing in the revolutionary war.

2) French speaking settlers to North America that lost to the British in the French and Indian War

Expanding and forming a dominion in response to the American Civil War which threatened Manifest destiny if they didn't hurry to the Pacific.

And only getting it's own nationhood and flag after WWII which made it clear they are not really "British" anymore.

In other words, Canada is a nation of losers.
>>
>>879324
Don't forget our injuns who are probably the biggest losers of all.

The fuck is this. A myth? No it's a part of Canadian history.

This too is a part of Canadian history.

We tried but ultimately we had the good sense not to go through with it.

Our future is to become part of some globalist North American Union along with Mexico. It's going to suck.

Stopping the Americans in the 1812
>>
>>880480
It was still called Upper and Lower Canada, and lads who grew up there were fighting. Were soldiers fighting in the American Revolution Americans yet?
>>
>>880472

>both capitals razed to the ground

C'mon anon we all know that the only real winner was the tornado
>>
>>880510
Sure, both capitols razed. But, status quo ante bellum.
>>
Vimy Ridge was stellar. Canadians headed offensives with the Aussies.
Canadians died at Dieppe and as a result lessons were learned for Dday. Battle of the Atlantic kept Britain in the war. Canadians are still revered, not sure how relevant anymore, in Western Europe for liberation so much that Americans sew Canadian flags on their bags and I have personally received more enthusiastic reaponses from people who thought I was American but found out I was Canadian

Its a stretch but settlers who would become Canadians did a lot in preventing the Us from expanding north in 1812.
