I'd see progress as more potent means of production, destruction etc etc, and wisdom as a wisdom to use this in a sustainable fashion that does not end up benefitting few and dooming the rest.
And example of progress without wisdom would be uncontrollable population growth in our planet. Well look anywhere and you see similar examples.
