It isn't just about who controlled it, but three factors have been left out:
1. Who actually lived there?
2. Who are the inhabitants descended from?
3. Which rulers actually ruled from the region?
Jews and their ancestors, who are direct descendants of Canaanites, were the primary inhabitants of the land from the Proto-Canaanites (Before they were known as Hebrews/Israelites) until the Roman expulsion, which already takes up about half the space on that graph. Not to mention that Jewish states were the only states in the region to a actual rule from within that region.
What exactly do other countries who want Israel expect them to do? Off themselves and just let the country taking over settle there? Where to do they expect the people to go because I know they wouldn't want to give there countries land mass in exchange for Israel so that the people at least have a place to go. If you think about it for a second the whole argument is retarded and irratinal on the side of the countries that want Isreal for themselves.
