Share all your favorite history podcasts or youtube channels! I've just started listening to The History of Rome podcast and I'm enjoying it. Historypodcasters.com has a lot of good stuff to.

Personally I'd love anything to do with Spain or the Spanish Empire.

Currently listening to a long series (~20 parts) on the Meiji restoration. Really good, i only have a casual interest in japanese history but he repeats stuff a lot so its easy to follow.

Listen to what this guy said, history of Japan by Isaac Meyer is fantastic

Laszlo Montgomery's History of China is also a good one.
>>
>>869165
I'm literally listening to that right now. I think this is my 3rd listen. It's a life saver at work.
>>

can you provide link?
I've just looked and there is a ton of podcasts, most of them likely shitty. I don't wanna waste time of my life with shitty rome podcasts.

So fucking good.

History of Philosophy Without Any Gaps and In Our Time are all you need. Listen History of Rome/Revolutions too if you really have time to kill.
>>
I've listened to David Edmonds and Nigel Warburton and found their "philosophy bites" and "social science bites" enjoyable. They're crash-course size but not shit.

As someone who have studied both fields I found em enjoyable, and I enjoyed the clear languages so you'll probably enjoy them even if you're completely new to the subject.

If there's any Scandinavians in this thread, Filosofiska rummet in Sweden is decent. They tend to bring in philosophers, scientists and other intellectuals to discuss whatever subject they're discussing each Sunday.

Last episode was about laziness. A director, a philosopher and social scientist specializing in labour discuss discuss it.

Are there any Spanish /his/torians who have any good historycasts? I'm trying to learn Spanish and it seems like it would be fun to listen to

I hate it because they are not specific enough and always have the one quota women who knows shit.
>>
>>869165
Is History of England any good?
>>
>>872278
The women are all very fine academics, but I agree with your first complaint. I'd like to see them give him an hour and a half, just so he doesn't have to rush them so much and they can relax and talk in more detail.
>>
>>873900
The women are fine, but always the weakest link. The show is usually interesting because one of the three guest is dominant with knowledge while the other two tend to be boring.

History of Rome is the only podcast I have found to love. Good thing that I found history audiobooks as the best alternative.

>mike duncan knock off tier
>history of byzantium

he may have started it as a continuation, but his style is very different.

1. Answers more questions
2. Gives "rest periods" where he overviews what the culture of the common, merchant, wealthy man was like in addition to different geographic areas, the military and politics
3. dives deeper into culture of the time

I won't say he is better or worse, I will just say they are different

The BBC history hour podcast is a little diffuse but excellent.

Opinions on the British History Podcast?
>>
While not necessarily a podcast, if you can score some free audiobooks from The Great Courses lecture series, they have some great history lecture series.

My particularly favorite lecturer is Kenneth Harl, and I have enjoyed his "Crusades" and "Alexander and the Macedonian Empire" lecture series. I hear his Byzantine one is the best, since that's his field of specialty.
>>
>>874028

It's very good, enjoyable, and thorough.
>>
>>874059
I am listening to Harl's Viking series right now. Very good. I recommend Daileader's three Medieval History series.

Any greek history podcasts?

He goes a bit more into the historiography as well. The episode about Constantine IV's victory in the Siege of Constantinople is less about the siege and more about the historiography of it for example.

I don't like his interviews though and kind of skip them. He tells the story well but his interviews are just kind of dull.
