Stalin's not great but I could agree to meet you halfway. Lenin wasn't great either and Stalin coming into power didn't derail a utopia in the making either. Stalin was a paranoid and close-minded leader but he held the country together during some awful times and came out on top. It wasn't a single-handed effort but nobody can deny he would have played some role in the allied victory in WW2.
