What OP calls Slav nationalism is in fact Slav chauvinism (or imperialism).
True nationalism is about the proliferation of nation-states. Since Balkan is populated by several distinct nations, it should be divided into several states.
Russia is a good example of a multi-national state that has russified many of the smaller and indigenous ethnicities.
So what is wrong with Slav Nationalism? It is usually just a cultural and social domination of one ethnic group over others which in turn is not respectful of the other nations and their will to prosper.

The Western concensus is that all of those cultures are ethnically Balkan (Illyrian, Thracian, Dacian, part Celtic), but that distinct identities formed from. The only requirement to being Slavic is speaking a Slavic language, so Croats and Slovenes can't properly claim to be non-Slavic.
Claiming Croats are "muh Iranian/German Aryan" is like a Macedonian claiming Alexander or Serb claiming "first written language on Earth" based on Vinca signs. It's nationalist idiocy - the whole reason that is popular is because Croatn nationalism is defined by the need to distance themselves from Serbs and Orthodoxy as far as possible.

Mostly untrue. The race bit is correct, but language is literally the only significant factor when discussing Slavic cultures. The culture of the Sorb minority in Germany is very very close to the local German culture but is very different from Russian culture, despite both being Slavic nations.
