This is apparent just by looking at the original scriptures; in biblical Hebrew "father" (obviously) has a masculine gender, while "spirit" has a feminine one.
Because the religious leaders of Judaism, Christianity and Islam were all male, so it makes sense the the foremost religious leader is going to follow that pattern at the very least in a figurative sense, rather than be labelled female to fulfill some sort of quota. Although considering how fucking uptight Islam is, I'm rather surprised they ever allowed gendered pronouns to be applied to God.

Honestly, most peoples who talk against god or the concept of god in general have absolutely no fucking ideas what they are talking about and fail to understand their own lack of knowledge on the subject, genuinely believing that religious folks have faith in a magic bearded man in the sky. The only way they can depict their opponents is as a parody of their belief, thus preventing themselves of ever effectively fighting them since they cannot even tell them why they ( the spiritual folks) are in the wrong, apart from using absurd rhetoric that are so vague and inconsistent that they could be applied to pretty much everyone, themselves included.
Also most peoples do not realize how much the concept of God has been manipulated since the days of old, at first being something pretty noble being turned into a tool only used by short-sighted fools to gain more political power. Nearly the entirety of what we consider the 'truth'/canons in modern Catholicism per example is so different and diverting from the original canons of Christianity that it could literally be considered an heretic branch of the religion rather than one of its pillar. You wouldn't believe how much info they modified over the time, from subtly modifying part of the books to literally making up entire part of it on the spot to get more pagan convert.
