Wasn't the whole impaling thing kind of overkill?
>implying
>>746070
it was psychological, the turks kidnapped him when he was young and did things to him
>>746070
Your mother didn't think so.
>>746070
They were Turks, who cares?
>>746070
Despite the modernist meme that a harsh penalty does not deter crime, it deterred an entire invading army.
>>746098
He wasn't kidnapped, he was a political hostage, he lived in the court with his brother.
>>746070
It worked
>>746180
That was more the scale of the penalty than the harshness.
>>746070
Nope. It was par on course for Eastern Europe.
Turks did it themselves.
>>746070
There's no such think as overkill when you've got a roach infestation.
Remove kebab.
>>747954
I'm sure both helped.
>>746070
was he literally Dracula?
>>747964
>Turks did it themselves.
Never on that scale. Vlad literally created a forest of 20,000 impaled corpses that had the Ottoman Sultan vomiting in disgust.
>>746101
People outside of /pol/ do anon.
>>748304
Fuck off.
Turks are the scum of European history.
>>746070
Not enough.
>20,000 impaled corpses
That is an unnecessary amount of impalement, not to mention work setting up so many people for impalement
>>748358
Fuck off Mehmet.
>>748366
Fuck off Radu/Mehmet/Vrodislaw or whatever they call you in your 3rd world balkan-middle east shithole. Go circlejerk elsewhere
>>746070
He had sever paranoia and trust issues due to being a bargaining chip between his father and the Ottomans.
>>748237
>had the Ottoman Sultan vomiting in disgust.
People like to prattle on about Austria being the ones to halt the Islamic invasion of Europe, but Vlad's talent for singularly gruesome imagery was a major factor. The Sultan's entire army was made to route through fear alone. Talk about psychological warfare.
>>748304
Most people dislike the Turks anon.
>>747833
>He wasn't kidnapped, he was a political hostage
>Totally not the same.
>Totally not sodomized and humiliated
Suuuuuure.
>>748233
If you mean Dracula as "Son of Dracul", then yes.
>>748355
Ghengis Khan disagrees
>>748237
Too bad he wasn't impaled himself
>>746070
he was kind of fucking insane anon
dude was drinking mercury like it was water.
>>748355
>That is an unnecessary amount of impalement, not to mention work setting up so many people for impalement
Infrastructure projects like that are good for the economy.
He should be the patron of Europe.
>>749452
The problem with that statement is that the Ottomans were already well past Romania by that point, and Romania was already an Ottoman vassal before that. Vlad was just a rebel who bought himself a year or two of reprieve before the Turks finally marched in and ousted him, returning things to their status quo.
>>746070
Impaling was meant to be overkill. The slowest form of overkill really. It happened everywhere in Eastern Europe, and I believe sometimes in Western Europe as well.
Vlad just liked impaling a whole lot more than normal. He was the Texas on Death Penalty of his time.
>>753543
It really says something about impalement when crucifiction was concieved of and used as a more humane execution method.
>>753862
>it really says something about shoving a spear up a dude's rectum when starving them to death is more humane
>>753866
>Implying that crucifiction only starves people to death.
>>749460
>thinking memes are real
>>746070
It wasn't about impaling. It was about sending a message.
>>748048
You'll never will you cucktener.
>>746180
Crime isn't the same as an invading army. Though it is funny that he made the sultan have a nervous breakdown.
>>748304
Turks by and large are digusting.
>>746070
Terror, as a weapon, works.
It's just a matter being able to back up a bluff.
