Would Europe have been worse off if Hitler had not risen to power?

No Stormfag here, but think for a moment, If Germany had continued as the Weimar Republic with no real military strength and a weak economy, what would have happened once Stalin had fully industrialized his country? Once the Soviet war machine got going with no German army to inflict such huge losses upon it what would Europe do with the rise of the USSR? We already know the USSR was expansionist as fuck, they would surely conquer Eastern Europe while in the meantime Japan continued to dominate Asia. With no WW2 in motion, would the West be the first to develop the nuke or would the militaristic nations develop it first?

History doesn't deal in value judgements, it deals in the past as it was.

There are entire books debating the historical 'what ifs', for example, if Hitler hadn't made poor military decisions such as attacking the USSR, and how the outcomes may have been different. My questions are a lot more far fetched but I don't see an issue with discussing them.

A history without Hitler is a history were Germany doesn't need to have burned all their bridges with Britain, France, and America.

>There are entire books debating the historical 'what ifs'
And those books tend to be pulp dreck fit for /x/, including the ones published out of no name presses with people who once did respectable PhDs.

Don't be upset that it's over, smiled because it happened :^)

Ww2 would've been west vs USSR, USSR would've lost and destroyed and the world would've been a much much better place.

The biggest crime of nazi germany is through its chimping out it allowed the spread of the cancer named bolshevism.

Attacking the USSR was a superb military decision. It was essentially a preemptive attack to put the Soviets on the defensive before they went on the offense. The poor military decision was Hitler keeping his generals on an extremely short leash. If Manstein in particular had been given free reign (preferably total command of the Eastern Front) there is little doubt that the invasion would have been a total success. Plus, Germany could not sustain itself as a world power without regular access to large quantities of oil.

Probably revolution from the left or the right.

The Weimar Republic wasn't working. Germany would either become a communist state, or the Prussian Junkers would have brought back the German empire.
Alternatively Germany might have just separated into several states again.

Japan would have burnt itself out in Asia, it might have still gone to war with America in which case the war would have lasted about 3 years. And the Soviets probably would have broken their armistice treaty with Japan to pounce on the Northern territories and Manchuria.

Soviet and US/Western interests would clash. Seeings how Communism goal was to spread it all over the world. its possible, in time the Russians would basically try to steam roll into central Europe, at first claiming to only be restoring Russia's pre-WW1 borders but eventually going all the way to Germany.

>If Germany had continued as the Weimar Republic with no real military strength and a weak economy

You are talking about changing one of the most defining moments of the 20th century it's hard to speculate with the sheer amount of variables that have changed and it's pure speculation at this point.

Not at all true. Due to the sheer manpower that the Soviets had, there was not a chance that the Germans could have won in the USSR. Assuming they captured Moscow, Leningrad, and Stalingrad, the Soviets would have just retreated back to further positions where they could begin an offensive from. No matter what the Nazis did to fight the USSR, the USSR's manpower would have crushed them at one point or another.

80% of soviet male citizens born in 1923 died during ww2. The USSR was on the brink of collapse but they were saved by winter.

Crush is a harsh word, it's true that they'd be a splinter in the side, and that warfare would've turned to guerrilla tactics, but whether a defeated russia could mount sufficient attacks AFTER the fall of moscow to retake lost ground is up in the air.
