Even if his ideas actually did have some form of logic (the cultural revolution actually made quite a lot of sense in it's original purpose to fight nomenclature and stagnation), they were always carried out in the worst way possible.

Not so much, look at China today, the more it liberalizes its markets, the more their markets become more and more fucked and volatile. It seems China had a decent balance in the 1980s/1990s but then too far into Capitalist land in the 00s allowing themselves to be subject to Capitalist Crisis.
China is going to be the flashpoint for the next financial crisis and it's probably not going to look good as the CCP loses all economic credibility.
