I'd say he's influenced by Zen Buddhism but he's not 100% an orthodox Zen Buddhist. He's influenced a lot by Hindu and Taoist thought, for example.

I agree, just Eastern Religions through a Western lens. It's interesting nonetheless. However, when he starts talking about science, he really sounds off his rocker. Not his fault really, science wasn't his area of interest or study.
