What causes wars? Why has it been opted for as a solution for disputes so often?
What defines the number of nations involved, the duration, the winner, and the consequences? Are there any general ideas that can be applied to all wars, or are wars essentially unique?
/k/ here. Its human nature

It's in the nature of rulers anyway, people don't want to die.

all war is for control of necessary resources to thrive and to determine who is master and who is slave.
it has nothing to do with "human nature" animals fight all the time for the exact same reason we do.
humans are not above the laws of nature, we simply express them in different ways, we are smart enough to make teams to fight, unlike other animals.

>there are no teams outside of human species
>no winner

war also determine who lives and who dies.
the only thing justifying your existence is your ability in combat or your contribution to the warlords who defend you.

But young men have always lusted for battle. Not all, but many. Probably got something to do with the thrill of the hunt or whatever
Normal politicking becomes insufficient

Limited resources, scarcity.
People who don't understand war have never been hungry. And when there's not enough to go around, some people decide they want to live and they want their families to liveand are willing to kill for that

Was about to post Clauswitz
There are three reasons for war:
1) Survival
2) Extermination of the Other
3) Glory
