So what were you taught about Communism in school?

I remember quite clearly we got "Worked on paper, doesn't work in theory because they never took human nature into account" and then a overview of Stalins purges, Pol Pot's atrocities, How Reagan pulled down the Berlin Wall and Stalingrad.

I got A every year in History and literally didn't even know what the Russian Revolution was until several years after finishing High School.

Australia here.

Philippines
>There were these bunch of countries that went commie.
>And then there were these that didn't.
>Commie countries fell because of shitloads of socio-economic factors and inability to handle them.
>China, Vietnam, NK, and Cuba are still here tho. Though the latter two adopted State Capitalism.
Not at once blamed gommienism. Just told it as it was.

Being from a Catholic school, Capitalism was just as much criticized as Communism was. Neither of these were Le Good/Bad Guys.

This why the Soviets keep the gulags in operation after the revolution, well that and building up Siberia.
>>

Gulags were a pretty good system, no joke or fedora tipping

More like
>GALLIPOLI
>GALLIPOLI
>GALLIPOLI
>GALLIPOLI

And then I learned years later that essentially everything we were taught about Gallipoli was bullshit.

We landed on the right beach, we quickly overran defenses then ANZACs got too spooked and refused to capture undefended strategic points going against orders which allowed the Turks too organize defenses.

Those little important bits were never mentioned.

They accomplished their goals, a number of Russians thought Stalin trying to tame the land was a fool's errand but he proved them wrong.

Did you learn about Atatürk? I'm reading a book about his life and if it wasnt for him you guys would have been successful.
>>

No.

WW1 was literally just Gallipoli and the Somme.

We never learned anything beyond that about WW1.
>>
>>813595
I meant the Gallipoli, he caused the us Turks to keep it. He said this later:

huh flip here and my school never even touched on the topic and just ended at WW2
>>
During my time in primary, middle and high-school we never went further than WW2, not even up to the Anni di Piombo (a pretty fucking important moment in Italy's history, akin to the Troubles), the Russian Revolution was just named as one of the reasons why Russia retired from WW1 and the Ottoman Empire was "literally who" tier.

The only thing that was taught to us was that Marx formulated Communism and Lenin applied it in Russia, that's all.
Maybe that's also one of the reasons why Commie Freaks were/are so popular here.

>Marx wrote only a few pages about socialism

We did. We spent a moment or two on Turkish/Australian relations. Mostly about PoWs, life in the trenches, etc, but Ataturk came up, including that little speech he gave about the Australian sons now resting in the soil of a friendly nation.

We didn't really talk about his military actions though, other than he was a senior commander.

Are you from Italy? If so, you're a retard. Your constitution has labor as the basis of the state and the commies always had power post-Mussolini.

What is it with Italians and knowing jack shit about their own history? Read a book, you fucking Wop Dago greasy shitball.

Nice reading comprehension, faggot.
I said "that we were taught", not "that I know", since OP was asking us if we were taught about Communism in school, I didn't imply that Communism in itself is useless.

Communism was never mentioned in any of the schools I've gone to back in high school.
Apart from Events and groups that had connection with communism we were never taught what it was and what it is. Some groups like the huks were actually portrayed in good light during our discussions of the second world war, the only reason I ever had interest in it was because I was related to the Huk Supremo during the insurgency during the 50s, and even that was never mentioned in school.
I hope the education system is a lot better now than when I was still in school.

That communism is an existential threat to the USA; that it is an evil empire; and that it has nuclear capabilities.

I was glad when I saw the USSR die, and the wall come down, and all of the imprisoned communists flee to western democracy.
