Which nation was stronger in their own time? Had there been more direct contact between Han China and Imperial Rome what would have happened to history as we know it? Who would win in a drunken brawl between empires?

>Had there been more direct contact between Han China and Imperial Rome what would have happened to history as we know it?
A few more mildly interesting curios.

>Who would win in a drunken brawl between empires?
Like most drunken brawls, it would be sad, pathetic, and basically amount to both parties failing to achieve anything that could be called fighting, and getting all their friends in trouble.
>>
fuck alternative history
>>

Is there something up with that map projection? I thought Europe was smaller than that relative to Asia.
>>
>>560964
All non-tautological history is alternative history.

yes, most of these maps are messed up.

Check out how cute Russia is on the equator.

really puts Africa into the right perspective
>>
>>561066
No, it puts Russia into the right perspective. We already saw Africa in its true size since it's on the equator.

Rome never controlled that much of Germania for very long at all, it's disingenuous to draw their borders there.
>>
>>560952
>not able to conquer Sinai
>not able to conquer the rest of Korea

Explain this.
>>
>>561233
Respectively
>Why the fuck would you bother conquering the Sinai?

>Collision with modernized agricultural region at the limit of your extent with natural geographic defenses.
>>
>>561233

Puppet states and tributaries are more useful than having to do the administering and shit yourselves.

Armenia was useful to Rome as a puppet state, once annexed it was much less useful as a buffer and a drain on resources.
>>
>>561263
>>Why the fuck would you bother conquering the Sinai?
To satisfy my autism and not having a huge gap in their territory like that.

Also it'd be useful to control the canal of the pharaohs to move boats from the Mediterranean to the Red sea.
>>
>>561688
They do control the canal. They can't control the Sinai itself because there's fucking no one there to control. It's like if you claimed the Sahara. What's the point?

The Chinese and Romans were in contact with each other

Chinese notes about Rome:
>Their kings are not permanent. They select and appoint the most worthy man. If there are unexpected calamities in the kingdom, such as frequent extraordinary winds or rains, he is unceremoniously rejected and replaced. The one who has been dismissed quietly accepts his demotion, and is not angry. The people of this country are honest. They resemble the Chinese, and that is why the country is called Da Qin (大秦, The "Great" Qin) ... The soil produced lots of gold, silver, and rare jewels, including the jewel which shines at night ... they sew embroidered tissues with gold threads to form tapestries and damask of many colours, and make a gold-painted cloth, and a "cloth washed-in-the-fire"
>It is from this country that all the various marvellous and rare objects of foreign states come.

I've been noticing a lot of maps out there with the borders of Italian Libya all fucked up. Some show it with modern Libya's borders, others like that, and others with little inconsistencies.

Did the colonial Sahara ever actually have formalized borders?
>>
>>561773
I'm sure that it would have been difficult to maintain strict boarders in the Sahara desert.

>Canal
You know the Canal wasn't around in the Roman Empire? Of course, you do.
>>
Rome has a more professional army and a higher industrial output.
In an even war they would win, but an actual conflict would be laughable because controlling the conquered territory would be impossible.

>and is not angry
kek
>>
>>561773
Officially, it would be modern Libya. Europeans who weren't soldiers never really left the big metropolitan areas though.
>>
>>561773
Not really. Because again, who cares what goes on in the middle of fucking nowhere.
