What would the world be like if there were no horses or domesticable equines?
Would we have seen war oxen? Would weapons tech have not of progressed so quickly?

I guess there wouldn't be any steppe nomads as we know them. So that would mean no huns, mongols, selcuks and ottomans. Also are there actually animals that can be tamed for war like horses ?
>>560500
Well, the empires Aztec, Mayan and Inca, they don't had horses. Just imagine the rest of the world like that empires.
Also:
In that world /mlp/ doesn't exist

Cows could have been bred for riding
Is an horse a athlete, though? How did ancient cultures view this?

Elephants.
Its just that the West/Middle East gave up on them since its not really conducive to fighting there.

Camels would have taken their place in all of those examples.
>inb4 camels aren't capable
We bred camels to be pack haulers, not war animals.
If we did to horses what we did to camels they would be fine fast transport.

I agree, but camels were already used for war.

That would take considerable breeding and it would still yield less capable results. Cattle don't have the stamina running.
Most likely you don't have the same aristocratic traditions. Wars are fought and one by masses of infantry fighting in formation either at a range or on foot. Empires would be harder to administrate due to the communications loop.
