I need historical sources and artwork of women in combat. Not necessarily war, just combat in general. Any place or time will do.

The oldest western fencing manual depicts a woman and a monk practising fencing with sword and buckler.
>>
>>539163
What are the chances that those depictions are not some kind of light hearted joke?

Like the Fallout mascot or any cartoon character with a speech bubble explaining basic stuff to the audience.

Because how would a woman and a monk in any way be considered dangerous? You know, to make sure the "reader" or whoever looks at the pictures knows he's reading a manual and not some epic battle.

Are you unaware that monks fought off the Viking hordes?

Relgious military orders. The Templars being an example.

what the hell is that guard the monk is doing in the first panel, why would he hold his sword that way?
>>
>>539958
Fought off is a bit of an exaggeration.

That and Monks were so prevalent that they basically did anything else a normal person would do in the middle ages.

I mean, the basis of Monasticism in the period was going off and forming godly societies, which entails all different sorts of folks.
