I just came back from watching The Revenant. I loved it. Every scene made me feel like I was there.
From what I can tell, American settlers in between 1800 and 1840 spent most of their time debating whether they wanted to kill the Indians or become the Indians.
If you lived on the frontier, you'd probably make a living off of fur trapping, and spend a lot of time in the wild. Just like the redskins.

The consensus among the people I watched it with was that the cinematography was top notch, but the story could have been a bit better. Still beats capeshit any day of the week 8/10.

Fairly shitty today, pretty shitty around the archetypal American period, unbelievably shitty before the invention of firearms.
Robert Rogers' journals are probably worth reading, even though they're mostly focused on the Seven Years' War.

I keep seeing 5 stars review for that movie yet I found that extremely boring and way too long. I loved Iñárritu's work in Bridman but this movie just felt like a "Leo crazy race for an oscar hits bear grill's level" crap.
Also the plot was flat as hell
