There was no win condition for Spartacus, he was literally doomed to fail. The Romans never would have let a slave revolt go unpunished and there was no way for him to dissuade them unless his army killed every single soldier the entire state had. Even then, what would he have done with his giant mob of hangers-on? What would even constitute a victory for him? Escaping from Roman territory? But there was zero chance that he would have been able to do that as he was right smack in the middle of it, probably as far from any border of the empire as he could ever have been.
