Anyway, a whore that got arrested for underaged drinking and drugs got killed in a creative way at the time of american civilization where everyone was obsessed with dark murder mysteries. I am honestly more sad about some video game developers closing down than about her dying in a horrific way. For all I know she could have asked for it, in her junkie inspiration and the spirit of the times.

I first encountered the crime when I read Black Dahlia by Ellroy when I was 15. Was very surprised when I realised it was a real case. Ellroy's murderer was also very bizzarre, so I thought he just made it all up

Yes as it would've created a scandal and looked bad. To give you an example from around the same time period, Akina Nakamori was one of the two biggest female pop stars in Japan in the 80s (1b to Seiko Matsuda's 1a). Her boyfriend/fiance had been cheating on her big time and when she found out she became massively depressed and tried to kill herself.
She recovered but had to basically publicly apologize for it (or so I've heard on that) and her career never recovered. She's kind of dismissed as being an alcoholic I believe though I don't know if she actually is.
