His main focus was on **controlling** Eastern Europe, more specifically: all tongues that spoke German, and those lands that were once controlled by Germans. From then on, the aim was to conquer the vast land of Slavic Russia. When the French and British declared war on Hitler after Hitler's invasion, Hitler became very scared, unsure if Germany could win a war against both the largest army and navy in the world at the time.
The quick and easy conquering of France came as an added bonus to Hitler's crown empire. From then on, if Britain was to be knocked out, it would look like another quick and easy victory against Russia. Mix this with his Spanish, Italian, and Greek allies, and bada-boom, bada-bing, you now see that conquering Europe for Hitler was merely a side quest in the ultimate goal.

He wasn't. He wanted to liberate all the German speaking people in Eastern Europe who had ended up under foreign occupation after WW1. Also, he wanted Germany to be as much as an autarky as possible - all of Germany was haunted the spectre of the privations caused by the allied naval blockade during WW1, and the shortages during the 1920s and 30s. Thus he needed agricultural land in eastern Europe.
This meshed nicely with his desire to attack the soviet union. He thought they were planning on a massive invasion of Europe to spread communism (which they were; just ask Finland and Poland), and wanted to strike first.
Western Europe was just an accident; it never featured in his pre-war plans. True, he relished the chance to humiliate the victors of WW1, but he was always more focused on the east.
