Remember when the Nazis came to power in Germany? Surely not everyone in the German society was onboard and supportive of Nazism. Are there historical accounts of what these people believed, how they behaved, what they did, etc. Did they voice concerns? How were they treated? Both by society in general and by the Nazi party?

>Remember when the Nazis came to power in Germany?
Wasn't born.

>Surely not everyone in the German society was onboard and supportive of Nazism.
Chiefly:
KAPD
KPD
SPD
Junkers
Syndicates
General Staff
>Are there historical accounts of what these people believed, how they behaved, what they did, etc.
Yes. Extensively.
>Did they voice concerns?
Well an ultraleftist (Dutch KAPD coparty) tried to burn the Reichstag. The KPD and SPD has weak street fighting policies. The General Staff tried to kill hitler. The Junkers and Syndicats were up for killing him if he didn't bring in new capital constantly.

Yeah there were 6 middle class intellectual liberals, one of whom was hot crumpet.

Never mind the working class dock subcultures.

The White Rose (German: die Weiße Rose) was a non-violent, intellectual resistance group in Nazi Germany, consisting of students from the University of Munich and their philosophy professor. The group became known for an anonymous leaflet and graffiti campaign, lasting from June 1942 until February 1943, that called for active opposition to dictator Adolf Hitler's regime.

"Isn't it true that every honest German is ashamed of his government these days? Who among us has any conception of the dimensions of shame that will befall us and our children when one day the veil has fallen from our eyes and the most horrible of crimes– crimes that infinitely outdistance every human measure– reach the light of day? ”

The Edelweiss Pirates (Edelweißpiraten) were a loosely organized group of youth in Nazi Germany. They emerged in western Germany out of the German Youth Movement of the late 1930s in response to the strict regimentation of the Hitler Youth. Similar in many ways to the Leipzig Meuten, they consisted of young people, mainly between the ages of 14 and 17, who had evaded the Hitler Youth by leaving school (which was allowed at 14) and were also young enough to avoid military conscription, which was only compulsory from the age of 17 onward. The roots and background of the Edelweiss Pirates movement were broached in the 2004 film Edelweiss Pirates, directed by Niko von Glasow.

Des Hitlers Zwang, der macht uns klein, Hitler's dictates make us small,
noch liegen wir in Ketten. we're yet bound in chains.
Doch einmal werden wir wieder frei, But one day we'll again walk tall,
wir werden die Ketten schon brechen. no chain can us restrain.
Denn unsere Fäuste, die sind hart, For hard are our fists,
ja--und die Messer sitzen los, Yes! And knives at our wrists,
für die Freiheit der Jugend, for youth to be free,
kämpfen Navajos. Navajos lay siege.

The Communists. The Communists made an armed resistance against the Nazis, in Germany, in Austria, and pretty much everywhere else the Nazis conquered. Surely, many members of the German society were to some degree "against" Hitler, but they also tolerated him - the only ones who were ready to die to stop Hitler were the Communists.

I'm not a Communist anymore since years, and I don't belive it's a sound economical system but still - let this never be forgotten. To all the German and Austrian Communists who died in street shootouts and in camps, to all the Yugoslav, Greek, Italian, Polish, ... partisans. Never forget the brave young people who were ready to lay down their lives at a blink of an eye, against a seemingly invincible war-machine.
>>
>>482679
Worse than that. Most of them knew what the Stalin regime was but fought for real communism within the limits of their capacity, and that fight generally meant a fight against fascism.

Death to fascism. Victory to the people.
>>
>>482679
I'm taking over the thread.
What WAS Hitler's deal with the communists? Why did he hate them? Why were they so persecuted in general? I can see it in Britain, that was politically more stable and people in power wouldn't like them, but why did the german people fear so much redistribution of wealth? Every strong argument I see against communism comes from the post 1930 failures of Russia, China, Cuba, etc, so why did the idea got so much hate in Europe in the early century?

Also, Why did the communists hate Hitler (apart from being persecuted)? In what ways were his policies hated? The way I see it, he was a true socialist and lifted their dead economy through large state intervention

Well, you know the Jews were behind communism, multiculturalism and all manner of degeneracy. Remember when hitter cleaned up all the pornography and held book burnings?
>>
>>487408
so Hitler just commited association fallacy?
>>
>>482470
There was actually a lot of uneasiness in the German military command, because most military men were conservatives and Hitler was a radical. Their fears were obviously justified, as Hitler replaced anyone not loyal to him and tainted the military culture of Germany forever, making it the bull crap it is today.
>>
>>487539
>tainted the military culture of Germany forever
expiatiate
>>
>>484992
>What WAS Hitler's deal with the communists?

Except when he was allied with them, he sought to destroy them and hated them.

>Why did he hate them?

Because in the "stab in the back" legend, the communists were viewed as betraying the German nation.

>Why were they so persecuted in general?
Because prior to 1924 the Soviet aligned communist parties wanted to hang the bourgeoisie with the guts of the politicians. And other communists like the KAPD wanted to until they were destroyed in the 1930s.

>but why did the german people fear so much redistribution of wealth?
Because every party other than the KPD and KAPD wanted to maintain capitalism so as to exploit the workers in the interests of the capitalist classes.

>so why did the idea got so much hate in Europe in the early century?
Paris Commune, 1848

>Also, Why did the communists hate Hitler (apart from being persecuted)?
The KAPD hated him because he was a white reactionary, later as a fascist. Remember that Horthy and Mussolini had destroyed revolutions by crushing communists with the same programme as Hitler.

The KPD hated him as a white reactionary, then hated him on equal terms with the SPD as "social fascists" then, too late, hated him as a fascist, then cooperated with him during the Pact, then hated him.

>In what ways were his policies hated?
Communism is not a policy based movement. Communists do not seek for the current government to implement different policies, they seek to abolish the current government and capitalism.

>The way I see it, he was a true socialist and lifted their dead economy through large state intervention
Firstly, Hitler gave the syndicates and junkers free reign on the economy.
Secondly, Hitler's welfare policies were Bismarkian, was Bismark a socialist?
Thirdly, communists do not want nationalised capitalism, they seek the abolition of capitalism.

>>

>Are there historical accounts of what these people believed

Gommunism
>>
>>487748
No, it doesn't. Hitler's views of the world were mythic.
>>
>>487760

So, his views were mythic because he thought people who started a civil war in the country he loved were out to destroy that country?
>>
>>487748
>people repeating century old memes

By the Hundred Days Offensive, the Allied forces had shown that they were capable of pushing through the German lines at will.

The generals realized that surrender was the only option, so they resigned power to a civilian government to deflect some of the blame off of themselves.

These were also the generals that returned Lenin from exile in Switzerland to Russia.

If you look closely, the German High Command of this era is responsible for literally 100% of the outstanding political issues of the 20th and 21st century.
>>
>>487765
No, the civil war didn't feature as significantly in his imaginary because the dolchstoßlegende provided a mythic frame of the nation and her betrayal.

Fuck me, it is like you imagine there's something "wrong" with thinking mythically?

Communism isn't just an economic system entailing the redistribution of wealth. It's also a cultural system that entails the destruction of western civilization.

And you know this how?

Despite those dubs, I doubt you're Hitler's reincarnation. It's ludicrous to believe that the Communist uprising in 1918 didn't contribute to Hitler's stance.

We have a variety of documentary records of the past.

please, explain further. The only account of communist thought undermining western morals is the Frankfurt School pushing shit like this >>487804

But all those /pol/ image macros told me the FS was born in the US and in *reaction* to communism failing to take root in Europe. Before that, what other western values they try to undermine in pre-WWII germany? Othger than "fuck the oligarchy", of course

AFAIK, back in the day oligarchs pushed hate for communism, just like the US' intensive propaganda to make anyone think communism = wost scum, without even thinking about the economic policies. I'm not saying they'd work, but it's sad watching a whole country hating something just because it's the cultural thing to do

For one thing, Marx preached the destruction of the family such that everyone could be a mindless cog with no purpose other than working.

The Germans had every right to despise the Communists after the 1919 revolution. Likewise, the whole world could see what was happening in in Russia and China. Some mysterious and vague "oligarch" boogeyman didn't need to stir up hate, they were doing that themselves.
>>
>>488854
Maybe you should read the book by Engels about the family before you start talking, because they were clearly talking about one specific kind of marriage in the Western world, i.e the marriage of the bourgeoisie/upper-middle class, where love or procreation were almost completely removed from the equation, and only status and property mattered.

But of course, a /pol/-tard like you will never read a book if it saves your life.
>>
>>488864
>communism doesn't try to remove all others so that only loyalty to the party remains
>>
>>484992
Hitler was backed by companies like Krupp, Musso was loved by Fiat-Ansaldo. Their policies allowed for sub-par equipment to be bought for premium to their armies(in case of Italy it was far more visible). Guess where the money went.

>why didn't they want to give THEIR wealth to other people

Is more accurate question.
>>487408
Fascists/Nazis weren't much better.

Half of them were idiots, the second half - freemasons.

See minister of finances Hjalmar Schacht and basically everybody but Mussolini in Italian fascist politics.
>>487748
Civil war happened when Germany already lost the war. If it didn't happen the war would take like a week longer at best. After Plan Michael failed, there was no hope already, the rest of the war was basically about Entente, reinforced by few millions fresh soldiers(Americans) pushing German army back from France, Belgium and stepping into Germany itself.
>>
>>488884
Sure, but that's clearly the same for all the totalitarian ideologies.
>>
>>488884
so you oppose the movements, but not the original ideolgy? is this what marx meant thatif that is marxism, he wasn't a marxist?
>>
>>488900
Nonsense, Fascism and Conservatism have always been pro family. Not that I support either ideology, but your claim is simply wrong.
>>488901
Yes, my issue with Communism is purely pragmatic. I have no idea discussing the merits of Marx's or Hegel's work in relation to the validity of Communism, because history has shown that in reality it only serves to create a new bourgeoisie, who have an even greater concentration of wealth and power than the previous.
>>
>>488854
>whole world could see what was happening in in Russia and China
Loled at China. By 1919 communists weren't even there in China retard.

World didn't really knew what happened in Russia. In fact one of the instigators of the Bavarian uprising heavily criticised the Russian revolution which led to conflict with then-still-SPD.
>>

>In fact one of the instigators of the Bavarian uprising heavily criticised the Russian revolution which led to conflict with then-still-SPD.
Forgot to mention that said person WAS in Russia and saw the terror, unlike the rest of SPD.
>>
>>488914
>Nonsense, Fascism and Conservatism have always been pro family. Not that I support either ideology, but your claim is simply wrong.

No they haven't. They have been natalistic, i.e they wanted more soldiers, so they payed women to get pregnant.

There's no such thing as "pro-family".
>>
>>488945
I'll cede that the Nazis have done some pretty shady stuff surrounding he raising of children by the state but Conservatism is pro-family. Typical policies like being anti homosexual marriage (because they believe it devalues "proper" marriage) and tax cuts for married couples show this. It doesn't matter what the motivation, Conservatives do wish to preserve the family unit.
>>
>>488973
Sure. I'll agree with your point about Conservatives.

German civil war. Why do people keep forgetting this fucking thing happened? And commies were even led by fucking Jewish Bolsheviks.
