Didn't wish for much but I got what I wished for:
Friedrich Nietzsche - Thus spoke Zarathustra
Chick Corea -Return to Forever
The Mars Volta - Octahedron
The Mars Volta - The Bedlam in Goliath
Nils Frahm - Spaces

Merry Christmas, OP!

Ten Thousand Year Explosion

I had read most of it in bits and pieces over the years, but now I'm going through it properly.

The Great War for Civilization by Robert Fisk

Nice choice OP, also got Essays and Aphorisms
Figure I need background on the philosophers I've flocked to in the past.

That's a good idea. I know little about Schopenhauer other than the fact that he threw an old woman down a flight of steps. I've read philosophy in school and on my own for the past three years so I think I'll be fine regardless.

A sword, mounting seem to be mid 19th century, but the blade is way older. Looks like someone refurbished a good blade, likely for naval use.
Couldn't find no marks yet, but it has some interesting (likely cabalistic) scribes on it.

Got a good bit of money, and a slow cooker (I did actually want one).

Ordered these two with my gift card:

The first is more /lit/ (The Cossacks by Tolstoy), but the second is The Annals, The Histories, Germania, and The Agricola by Tacitus.

Haha yeah, I've heard it's quite the downer. I think I'll read some of Churchill's ramblings first to buoy my spirits beforehand. I think I've grown less sensitive to depressing literature with the years though; at least since I read GR, that is.
>>
>>466589
It's a really good book.

What really breaks my spirit is that such a good book isn't more well known though... Kind of makes me lose hope in my own ability to write.
>>
>>466571
Should have been more specific senpai; especially if you'd already read a volume into the subject.

The first few chapters seems like a really boring history of the Puritans in England and Holland. I'm tempted to just skip straight over that.
>>
>>466594
>What really breaks my spirit is that such a good book isn't more well known though...

I have some degree of faith in the establishment's ponderous bent to recognize merit where it sits --at least over the long haul. I mean, nobody gave a fuck about William Blake's poetry for a verrrry long time, but he and Melville are both canonized literary saints among critics today.

>Kind of makes me lose hope in my own ability to write.

Haha yes, you're not alone my friend. No good book lets its reader go unhumiliated.
>>
>>466555

>>The Second World War Vol.1-6 -Churchill

Get ready to spend a few months working through it. It's worth it though, it really is.
>>

>Haha yes, you're not alone my friend. No good book lets its reader go unhumiliated.

This is really true.

I remember when I first read Lolita. I trashed the draft of my first book after that.

A bilingual version of Khayam's ruba'yat and a fragment of the Sahnameh (not bilingual, sadly). Not bad, considering I only got three presents.

They're maybe more /lit/ related but well, they're both medieval works, they belong to /his/ too.
