Can't think of any. Even LOTGH is not really /his/ related.
On the other hand you might wanna look at mangas like Cesare and Historie.

Oh also Otoyomegatari. There also was a shoujo about the persian empire, but I haven't read it and I don't remember the title.

if you didn't drop rose of versailles at the very first scene of a royal baby not birthed before the court then you are not /his/

To think it went so fast in the beginning. Why the fuck did it need to slow down that much. Also fuck the focus shift away from warfare, seriously.
I mean like 99% of the readers were drawn in by pic related, not by "Thorfinn Gandhisson's utopian dreams".

Any manga/anime with strong Christian or Muslim influence? I know about that one that has Jesus and Buddah as BFFs and the Manga Bible series but what else is there?
>>
>>461800
cesare is the one i can think of, its one of the main theme of the manga. the mc being a devout christian hated by his fellow spaniard which is in the final phase of the reconquista. he respect and acknowledges the influence the muslim had on christianity. the other christians didnt like that of course

I would love to have an anime set in the Roman Empire. The problem with this kinda stuff is that nips love to give characters magic powers and put all sorts of supernatural shit in the story.

I'd want a simple, no magic or bullshit show. Maybe it'd be about a general who starts campaigning against some historical Roman enemy, then is recalled to fight a rebellion, and eventually turns coat to side with the rebels or even take the throne for himself.
>>
>>464569
I want an anime set in ancient China that's actually historically accurate and not bullshit anime hair with superpowered attacks and many incorrect pronounciation of Chinese names

But we can't have things like that because Japanese are incredibly retarded when it comes to understanding anything outside of Japan, even including China which most of Japanese culture imitates.
>>
>>464578

Yeah it's a shame. Part of the reason why I liked the Golden Age saga of Berzerk is that it was really tame with the monsters and OP shit. I liked it more when it was about a mercenary band fighting a war than when it became monster hunter.
>>
Vagabond is awesome, I still can't believe it's by the same guy that made Slam Dunk.

I guess you could count Rurouni Kenshin too, it doesn't ever stop reminding you we're in the new Meiji era. I seriously hope Kenshin never lived to see all the fuckery the restoration eventually brought.
>>
There is a long ova dealing with Buddha and Jesus, I forget the name, but it's a lovely movie. Oni-saint something.
>>
>>464552
I think it's on youtube but you're better off downloading it. Just google "logh bakabt" and go crazy. You should really watch the first two movies first to see if you like it because after that you're in for over 100 episodes of the same stuff, don't worry, they're pretty awesome, add to the story and fill you in on a lot of things that will seem to just happen at the beggining of the main series otherwise. Oh, the second movie is supposed to be watched instead of the first three episodes, don't worry, it's superior in every way.

Makoto Yukimura the Vinland Saga artist is pretty good, maybe even better overall when it comes to research as Kaoru Mori seems to be more specialized or devoted to things like clothing and embroidery.

Both this and Maoyuu, despite being fantasy, are enjoyable for the attention they give on exploring some medieval economics.

Arslan Senki is also good for a fantasy take on religion and politics set in notPersia facing an invasion/crusade against notFrance, written by the same author who wrote Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

Drifters is a manga from the same guy that did Hellsing about a fantasy world being turned upside down by people from our own history taking sides in a giant war.

Gunjou Senki is a manga about a /his/fag who, along with his whole school students and building all, finds himself transported back to 16th century Japan.

Koukoku no Shugosha is a fantasy manga sort of like Gunka no Baltzar, only the setting is more late 19th/early 20th century and involves notRussia invading notJapan.

Drops of Dreams, the Golden Birdcage is a shoujo manga about a harem slave in 16th century Turkey who rises up to become the favorite of the sultan.

Shoukoku no Altair is a manga about a fantasy Mediterranean where a pretty boy Turkish pasha teams up with fantasy Italian city states to face a fantasy Hapsburg empire.

Guns and Stamps is a slice of life set in a fantasy Crimean War that follows a qt Russian staff officer in a town on the front lines of the war.

Teito Monogatari/ Doomed Megalopolis
It's based on the books (actual novels, not light ones) of Hiroshi Amata. It shows the history of a modernizing and urbanizing Japan in the Taisho and Showa era, and the influence of the demon Kato Yasunori plotting the detruction of Tokyo.
It is also worth checking some historical (20th century Japan and the samurai Masakado) and spiritual/occultist (onmyodo mostly) background
BTW it's kinda ultraviolent but there's never any actual sex.

My only two gripes are the needlessly, unbelievably slow pacing (the characters usually decide to do something 3-5 half hour episodes before actually doing it) and the severely underanimated space battles. There's other stuff to complain about too, but it is an incredibly solid anime, if a little too romantic.
