Starting off with personal favorite. It takes a true genius to spend 1/3 of your GDP on your coronation. Just fuck my country up senpai.

Anyone who thinks or calls himself "world leader" belongs in a nut house. Any public servant would love for you to think of him as a leader, because he's a voluntary slave, a servant with millions of masters. Sorry about your luck having to live in the feudal system, but you know old saying "when life gives you lemons move to Iceland"

Why did African nations proceed to put people who had no governing experience or education into power instead of one of the many native Africans who were given world class education in European universities? Oh, right...
>>
>>456535
>Why did African nations proceed to put people who had no governing experience or education into power instead of one of the many native Africans who were given world class education in European universities?
Because those guys had spent the last few decades living in France, and actually had no governing experience.

Bokassa was groomed by the French for leadership. He was supported by the French throughout his rule. That stupid coronation was paid for by the French.

Deciding that Bokassa was fit to rule was what the people with those world class educations came up with.
>>
>>456564
>Deciding that Bokassa was fit to rule was what the people with those world class educations came up with.
Is that supposed to be an argument against world class educations? Because I'm not buying it.
>>
>>456572
Make of it what you will. But the Mandarins at Quai d'Orsay did everything they could to back Bokassa, and ensure he was the one with actual governing experience.
>>
>>456577
Well, he launched a military coup, and was supported by a France that wanted to keep an ally in Central Africa. Then, everyone figured out he was a fucking lunatic, and the French launched another coup against him.

Because they were propped up as puppets, nothing more.

Look what happened in the DRC when a college educated Socialist got into power, assassinated by the CIA 3 days later.

Post Colonial African leaders got power and stayed there as long as they towed the line and followed suite. Once they deviated, they were gone in a Coup.

There is some quote about people being funded by America or SU but there's massive confusion between the African political forces about who's paying them off or their rivals off.

The Derg got funding from America because they thought that Mengistu was just being a populist and would calm down after getting the American dough but he didn't and used said funding to fund his oppression and attacks.

Mobutu Sese Seko and Haile Selassie often got free money from the states because both knew that they could simply fake considering going to the SU for money instead and that gave America a panic attack so they got more money which Selassie used to modernize his military over modernizing more helpful things (military modernization is a good idea but not at the cost of health care or education etc). Mobutu just did what his predecessor did and faked being on the fence, the last guy got killed and he got installed in his place but he knew the name of the game.

Yes, it seems he was. He got the job thanks to his "legendary devotion to France and fierce anti-Communism." France made a bad call on that one.

FDR sold the American people out to enamourous debt slavery, and slavery to the state.
Truman was nothing but a pawn continuing the play.

FDR sold the American people further into internationalism/globalization, lied to get us into war, and destroyed every last principle of the American republic.

The definition of 'absolute madman'

>son of a witch doctor who allegedly killed his younger brother
>declared private education subversive, and banned it entirely
>More than a third of Equatorial Guinea's population fled to other countries during his reign
>killed all who wore spectacles,[6] banned use of the word "intellectual" and destroyed boats to stop his people fleeing from his rule
>The only road out of the country on the mainland was also mined
>banned Western medicines, stating that they were un-African
>consumed lots of bhang and iboga (psychedelic plant)
>assigned himself titles such as the "Unique Miracle" and "Grand Master of Education, Science, and Culture"
>changed the national motto to "There is no other God than Macías Nguema"
>had neither a development plan nor an accounting system for government funds
>After killing the governor of the Central Bank, he carried everything that remained in the national treasury to his house in a rural village
>During Christmas 1975 he ordered about 150 of his opponents killed. Soldiers dressed up in Santa Claus costumes murdered them by shooting at the football stadium in Malabo, while amplifiers were playing Mary Hopkin's "Those Were the Days"
>By the end of his rule, nearly all of the country's educated class was either executed or forced into exile
>He also killed two-thirds of the legislature and 10 of his original ministers
>executed several members of his own family; got deposed and replaced by his nephew

Well if you think deeply about it he wasn't that bad initially, it was later years when he started to go nuts.

Socialist Romania, like Yugoslavia, China and a few other countries tried to keep distance from the USSR as we didn't really want to be their bitches.
Measures such as "export should be considerably greater than import" wasn't really a bad conception, considering he wanted to get the rid of any debts Romania had to other countries.

I'd say his ideas weren't actually that bad, just poorly thought in depth and poorly applied.

That aside, true there were the communist prisons and the extremly preposterous accusations and the poorly forced "job for everyone" campaign, but those were in every communist state so I'd say it's a flaw of the system.

I know everyone wants to post some funny african nigger but seriously, pol pot.

In power, the Khmer Rouge carried out a radical program that included isolating the country from all foreign influences, closing schools, hospitals, and factories, abolishing banking, finance, and currency, outlawing all religions, confiscating all private property and relocating people from urban areas to collective farms where forced labour was widespread. The purpose of this policy was to turn Cambodians into "Old People" through agricultural labour.[20]

In Phnom Penh and other cities, the Khmer Rouge told residents that they would be moved only about "two or three kilometers" outside the city and would return in "two or three days". Some witnesses say they were told that the evacuation was because of the "threat of American bombing" and that they did not have to lock their houses since the Khmer Rouge would "take care of everything" until they returned. People who refused to evacuate would have their homes burned to the ground and would be killed immediately. The evacuees were sent on long marches to the countryside, which killed thousands of children, elderly people, and sick people.[43] These were not the first evacuations of civilian populations by the Khmer Rouge; similar evacuations of populations without possessions had been occurring on a smaller scale since the early 1970s.[43]

During their four years in power, the Khmer Rouge overworked and starved the population, at the same time executing selected groups who they believed were enemies of the state or spies or had the potential to undermine the new state. People who they perceived as intellectuals or even those who had stereotypical signs of learning, such as glasses, would also be killed. People would also be executed for attempting to escape from the communes or for breaching minor rules. If caught, offenders were taken quietly off to a distant forest or field after sunset and killed
