He did pretty good, considering that his most natural trading partner always tried to fuck his shit up and that Cuba was a total impoverished shithole before him. Cuba has like 0.750 HDI, which shows he really managed to create OK healthcare and education system, but after a certain point in development and time, younger generations seek freedom and luxury goods, since they did not witness the improvements from previous rule and only compare their country to the west. I really hope that Cuba can now become a high-developed country, because Castros really managed to create groundworks for it, but failed with the next step. Typical communist regime.
