How was Spain able to BTFO the Moors and spread of Islam completely?
>>
>>434089
"the moors" aren't a monolithic entity and had their own wars between taifas
>>
>>434089
Muslim Iberia divided into small kingdoms and the christian kingdoms teamed up in order to defeat them
>>
>>434089
The same reason the Muslim held on to the land for so long: there was no unified realm so the biggest power with the most allies came to dominate the region.

As for the spread of religion, religion tended to follow the feudal lord in charge. And the feudal lord in charge tended to follow the religion that was winning.

this

Cordoba when it was a unified Caliphate was pretty strong, once it fell apart it relied on north african powers taking it over to ensure its survival, once that fell apart there was a power vacuum for the christians to move in.
>>
Hidalgos were scumbags who used terror tactics and slaughtered countless civilians.

Prior to Wahhabism, Muslims didn't do this. It's haram.
>>
What happened in Spain during the Middle Ages was like what is happening to Europe now.

Al-Andalus was a much more prosperous and advanced civilization. They had official tolerance to Jews and Christians, great culture, science, they even tolerated homosexuality (some caliphs at Córdoba had male harems). Meanwhile the Christian kingdoms were primitive and warlike.

The problem is that thanks to this wealth and prosperity, the Moors of Al-Andalus forgot how to fight. They began importing berbers to man up their armies, and the berbers sacked Córdoba. Later, they would divide themselves in many kingdoms and fight amongst themselves, sometimes using Christian soldiers as mercenaries, such as El Cid.

The only ones who were able to fight back the Christians were the Moors from Africa, such as the Almoravids and the Almohads, but these Moors were Muslim fundamentalists who disliked all the promiscuity and degeneracy that existed in cities such as Córdoba and Seville, so there wasn't much love between them and the Moors of Spain (just like the only ones who can save Europe now are the far-right that everyone hates for being extremists and quite dumb).

the reconquista covers a period of centuries, many major changes happened during this time

The north of Spain is a strip of land with an environment similar to western France, an oceanic koppen climate classification, this densely populated grain producing region was the heart of the holdout Kingdom of Asturias, which also had aid from the rest of Christendom, notably Francia which had fought the Umayyads

Agriculture in this environment developed at a faster pace than the more mature agricultural practices of the Mediterranean, along with other innovations like crucible steel and of course knights, castles and the rest. Spain was notably a leader in steel due to low purity iron ore found in the Pyrennes

The power balance between Asturias and the Umayyads in the 8th century was very different from the balance of power between the kingdoms of Portugal, Leon, Castille, Navarra and Aragon and the Almohads at the beginning of the 13th century

>>434094
>>434367
the christians had their own power struggles as well
>>
low impurity*
>>
>>434089
Apart from profiting from muslim infighting, from almost minute 0 the christians were better militarily. In the 1000s, when Spain was still mostly under muslim rulers, the muslims were already paying the christians to not be attacked and to participate in the wars between taifas. In trade, one of the few things the muslims were interested about the christian north was swords and steelworks in general.

So Turks weren't muslim in the 17th century?
>>
>>434423
>the reconquista covers a period of centuries, many major changes happened during this time

It very much feels this gets overlooked by people who talk about the downfall of Al-Andalus and 'moorish Spain' - they talk about it as though it was a singular cataclysmic event which happened very rapidly despite the fact that there was an ebb and flow of events over centuries of politics, internal strife etc. But what do they care? All they see is 'Islam BTFO -tell me more! tell me more!. Stupid ignorant cretins not fit to study history really.

Use punctuation.
>>
>>434370
>Muslims didn't do this. It's haram.

BS. Muslim raids on Byzantine territories in 8th-10th century looked exactly like that: massacre of civilians.
>>
>>435051

Just like in Iberia.
>>
>>434832
I know right, these things popularize history but then people feel the need to shoehorn agendas into it
>>
>>434316

Bullshit.

The Christian Kingdoms fought among themselves as much if not more than the Muslim Kingdoms did. It's only that 1 on 1, a Christian Kingdom> a Muslim one.

When the Almoravid Empire cuck'd the muslim kingdoms, there was hardly any christian advanced for over a century until the Almoravids themselves got cucked by the Almohads and the Almohads went on the offensive in Spain which prompted the Christian Kingdoms to team up against them and that was pretty much the end of Muslim Spain.

Even so, the Kingdom of Leon didn't join that alliance because their King had a serious butthurt with the Castillian one.

"Moors" were minority in the peninsula.

Common Spaniard was Christian, hence why local arabs were so tolerant - they knew that going full allah akbar will end up in widespread rebellion they couldn't possibly win.

The Berbers did this.

It's more recent than that. More like 400 hundred years ago in Europe, up to the present day in Africa.
>>
>>442337
>More like 400 hundred years ago in Europe
Hardly. The breakup of Yugoslavia, ideological terrorism of the 20th century, anti-partisan actions on the Eastern front in WWII, etc
As westerners it is easier to see these events as exceptions.
