Why do societies value humor? Why is humor considered a good thing?
Humor can be used to feel out how some members of the society felt about how things were without having to read long critical essays or criticisms of the government or some other institution. It can also be used to as a form of escapism or in some cases a defense mechanism from highly stressful environments.

Because its funny. It can attack, it can be used to heal. Its just a very general thing that most people like.
I was a comedian for a while. Its a depressing as hell job. I felt rewarded because people liked me, but still, holy shit its sad. I think having that experience really pushed me to appreciating the role of the comedian more than comedy itself.

Isn't laugh proved to be healthy?

It is, but a lot of comedians aren't trying to get you to laugh more than are moral crusaders pointing out absurdities. I think its a little bit more complicated than that.

Why do you find things funny? Often it is because a joke tells a truth we accept unconsciously but still, we normally don't realise. When we hear jokes like that we're suprised and amused which causes laughing.
Of course low brow humour or dick jokes don't fit in this.

Then why not just say "Why do individuals value humor?" or "Why do people value humor?"

>>422152
why did we evolve humor?
>>422152
Because ever since psychedelics became demonized, we needed a way to dissolve boundaries and ridicule dogma.

>Its a depressing as hell job
