The first waifuist ever.
It's amazing how naked everyone was in ancient Greece and Rome.
>the hallmark of a rich ruler is half-naked slaves fawning over you and marble status of naked girls in your hallway
They knew what was up.

Is the cat not looking because it's an unsettling sight or are they just beneath him, unworthy of his gaze?

I don't understand Herms. I understand that Hermes is the god of boundaries, but why do they have beards? Hermes doesn't have a beard.

Thank you for posting that in high resolution, that's probably my favorite painting of all time. I have it on a Zippo.

I mean, I get why it happened, and I think some works were beautiful as was the thought behind them, but Postmodernism... dunno. I guess I just feel it's sort of lacking, which is hypocritical and shitty as someone who works in and enjoys art and art history. However, it's rare anymore that people take quite the amount of time, effort, and raw talent as to reach the level of a lot of the classical and Romantic painters or sculptors
They're brilliant, talented, and emotionally moving in their own ways, but I feel the more deconstructive elements of the movement have harmed art while allowing every Tom, Dick, and Harry to say, "Look, I'm an artist! YES!"

Tbh, As the guy who dumped those out of spite for the overabundance of realism, that's a fair critique senpai.

That being said, fuck I love Guernica.

>tfw had to sit through a lecture about male-gaze concerning Odalisques and women with fruit in a history of photography course

The hilarious part of this is that I was taught Odalisques positively (Or at least impartially) by a liberal lesbian who had left her husband, who was the photography professor, to be with another female professor who did a pretty amazing art exhibition at the college. The professor had also gone to an Ivy-league school.
Community colleges are strange places.
