Why has Germany always been so shit at diplomacy, minus the anomaly that is Bismarck?

massive case of autism and superiority complex

They basically had the mentality of that edgy kid in class who would read giant volumes of manga at school and thought he was a super genius and better than everyone even though he got like straight C's

The Prussian-influenced German state sucked at diplomacy because they saw nations as basically military-industrial machines and judges others according to that.

Actually, during the time of the Holy Roman Empire, if you wanted to become >relevant you had to have some degree of diplomacy. The germans were divided over a metric fuckton of principalities.
>>
>>357243
This.

That and they were a latecomer to the game and never really had the time to develop a good diplomatic caste.

to be fair it was always in england and france's best interest to divide and conquer germany. It was well know for a long time that a unified german state would severely alter the balance of power
>>
>Region dominated by a series of foreign empires through awkward political apparatus known as the "Holy Roman Empire"
>Attempts to prosper through diplomacy leaves the region fractured and weak
>Thirty Years War ravages the region, teaching the populace nothing but brute force matters
>Centuries later, eventually forge a nation by the blood of their enemies
>They now consider diplomacy practically useless and view everything through a dynamic of power
>Proceed to bludgeon other nations into submission, applying the only lessons that were ever worth learning

What'd y'all think would happen?

Krauts can't into small talk and find it hard to understand people's facial expressions.

This leads to unintentional insults and misunderstandings.

Yea because Winston "I fucking hate the Germans for no good reason" Churchill launching himself into WWII out of nothing but his sheer hatred for Germans was such a good diplomat.
>>
>>358644
>He thinks Churchill started WWII.
Holy kek, how do you idiots even breathe?
>>
>>358657
Yeah to be fair, Hitler really only made WWII noteworthy when he invaded and declared war on actually strong countries.

Churchill's inevitable reaction didn't mean anything, even if he was the aggressor it wouldn't have meant anything.

Churchill became prime minister in May of 1940.

Germany and Great Britain had been at war for more than half a year.

He became Prime Minister after the fall of France.

Neville Chamberlain pressed parliament for a declaration of war.

How is it not a major factor? They're located in the middle of Europe. Everyone is going to have an intressts in Germany and the states before Germany existed had to manage diplomacy with pretty much everyone in Europe.

Compare it to northern Europe and their geographic position, allowing their history to be summed up as Denmark and Sweden taking turns ruling Norway.
>>
>>358674
A declaration of war and actually throwing the soldiers behind it are different things. The only reason Britain lost all the lives they did was because Churchill had some rabid hatred for Germany.
>>
>>358677
>Northern Europe
>Denmark and Sweden taking turns ruling Norway
No, not at all. Sweden has never even ruled Norway.
>>
>>358677
South of Germany is shielded by the Alps and there were few conflicts in the area. In the East, Poland wasn't a problem past the 14th century. Only dynamic was partitionning Eastern Europe with Russians. In the North, a narrow corridor of land.
Few coastlines open for invasion. Swedes were the only ones to do so and they failed.

The battle for France started 10 of May with Fall Gelb, Churchill took the office as Prime Minister the same day

>>357277
But that's just realpolitik, m8. It is what everyone else did.

>england
Not exactly, the last thing England wanted was letting France acquire too much power on the continent, that's mainly why they were strongly opposed to strong sanctions after the WW1.
