Why is the Church so butthurt about Lutheran doctrine when it's basically Augustinianism applied consistently?
>>
>>348086
It's really not that butthurt. The Catholic Church has been through countless reforms since its foundation. It really all comes down to Martin being autistic.
>>
All true believers are members of the one body. The true invisible church. We hope someday the Catholic Church repent of their additions to the true faith and full communion can be restored once again.
>>

It isn't. Augustine's theology is simply reaffirmed by Trent. Luther strayed away from it
>>
>>348162
Trent actually underplayed considerably the fideic aspects in Augustine's doctrine.

Please anon, the polite word is "German".

It didn't. Augustine's theology notes that works are important for salvation. The person can only do them under God's grace which Catholic theology also upholds. Augustine's belief in free will contra Luther would also put Luther at odds with him. It also destroys sola Fide all together since it presupposes no free will. The human is just a tool to be mind controlled to do good works. The individual does not give consent nor is active in will throughout this. Augustine in contrast even said how God cannot justify a person without the person himself.
>>
Luther hated the Church using its authority too benefit itself where as he editing the bible to benefit himself was the exact same
>>
No matter what revisionist accounts say now, I bet it was because he lit a fire under the public's ass about indulgences.

>It also destroys sola Fide all together since it presupposes no free will.
Wait what
>>
>>348198
Luther's spat with Erasmus happens for a reason
>>
>>348198
Wait....shit i just realized muh poor wording there. I meant that sola Fide presupposes no free will not that Augustine presupposes no free will
