What non-English language has the best and most original thinking taking place with it?

Is it Hebrew or Chinese or something else?
>>
Probably German or French, still. But English is probably in first place by a larger margin than 40 or 50 years ago.
>>
I disagree that Chinese is one of the best, it's actually pretty bad because its structure lends itself to a lot of misunderstandings.
Anyone who speaks a little mandarin thinks right away "hey, won't this structure cause people to be correcting themselves to others all the fucking time?".
And you know what? It does.

French, Spanish and possibly Russian by a wide margin
>>

Probably the romance languages like italian, spanish or french.

You mean the hardest to learn? Then it would require the "most thinking". Probably Mandarin or Hebrew because it is very different than English or French.
>>
>>337289
Are there any intellectual world capitals that aren't in Anglo-Ameriland?
>>

>Anyone who speaks a little mandarin thinks right away "hey, won't this structure cause people to be correcting themselves to others all the fucking time?".

Just think about this. Do you think that people, who are inherently lazy and try to find the easiest way to express an idea, would not come up with a relatively efficient way to express ideas among themselves if given enough time?

Hunagarian is a bitch unless you happen to be Hungarian, in which case Hungarian is more intuitive than any other language.

Ancient Greek.

I'm not German, however German thinkers are the best by far with the Greeks and some Latin and French. Far in front of English imo
(but i'm not talking about litterature there)

It's not Hebrew. Did you mean German?

this

Probably a highly inflective language is the best, like Latin or Greek. English is a slave to syntax.

>One of the most spoken languages in the world

Russian. It's close enough to critique western and eastern thought, and having experiential knowledge of both. China is too remote from western thought, and the west visa versa, for a fruitful confluence of ideas.

What languages are worth anything?
There's English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Latin, Ancient Greek, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, and Japanese, and that's about it, right?

No, I agree with him, I shouldn't have included it. It's only good for speaking with Italians and churchmen, and any churchman worth his salt knows Latin.
>>
>>341340
So you added Greek which has less speakers than Italian?

English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese.

No, you fucking weeaboo. Japanese is an isolated language and is only spoken on one dinky island. Literally the only reason they're relevant is because they're America's bitch.

Go with Chinese if you want runes.
>>
>>336730
Français, Deutsch, Farsi/Persian, Nippon Russian... that's about it I guess.

Stupid question though, but in regards to "strong philosophical, literate and other art output, those are among the top
>>
>>336730
I would say German, simply considering the sheer amount of fairytale and capital-r Romantic literature they produced. That kind of art takes mental flexibility.

Russian too for a lot of the same reasons, though pre-Communist Russian and Imperial era Russian are actually different.
>>
>>336730
East Frisian.
>>
What are you asking exactly
the language with which most philosophers expressed their thoughts?

In old English people spoke and wrote in metaaphids. ocean = whale road.

>>
>>336730

obviously esperanto
>>
>>345585
I'm pretty sure that's just in poetry, and a lot of other old germanic languages did it in theirs too.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenning

it's interesting though. Old English poetry and prose is pretty neat in general.
>>
sanskrit is where it's at
>>
>>345682
no but for real kennings are pretty cool.

take this one for example

Ða wæs heofonweardes gast ofer holm boren.

The heavenward's ghost is borne over the waters

heofonweard = heaven gaurdian (ward) = god

sucks that stuff like this just sounds awkward in modern english.
>>
>>345682
>The practice of forming kennings has traditionally been seen as a common Germanic inheritance, but this has been disputed since, among the early Germanic languages, their use is largely restricted to Old Norse and Old English poetry.[11][23] A possible early kenning for "gold" (walha-kurna "Roman/Gallic grain") is attested in the Ancient Nordic runic inscription on the Tjurkö (I)-C bracteate.[24][25] Kennings are virtually absent from the surviving corpus of continental West Germanic verse

In my opinion, I'd think it to be German and Italian in the west, Sanskrit + whatever other Indian languages in the east, and inbetween stand the Russians and Persians.
